That's the most amazing thing I've ever seen. If it were an actual guitar it would have been even better.

That being said, which type of guys do you have a weakness for when we're not talking about looks? I have a pretty big weakness for musicians depending on the music they prefer. Guys with a similar music taste to mine are always a plus. With these type of guys I'm able to put my standards a lot lower in the looks department.

I love talkers. Seriously. I'm pretty chatty myself, so when a guy can match me and have an interesting story for every scenario I find it to be one of the hottest things about a guy.

Quiet guys irk me. Give me an opinionated know-it-all any day...

MidnightScott. You might want to be a bit careful about dating a coworker. If things don't work out and you leave things in an awkward way, then it'll be a bit weird having to see him everyday and work with him as if nothing happened. That's what I've been told at least.

I haven't spoken to him today yet. He told me he was going to be really busy so I figured i'd give him the space and let him text/call me whenever he's done. I will though whenever I talk to him next, which most likely will be tomorrow.

Yeah I know this is what bugs me a lot as well. But we'll just see what happens this weekend...if things lead to it and I feel I'm into it I don't think I'll stop myself this time. Y'all said that I probably just wasn't attracted to my friend which I think is true now.

No I turned him down for that earlier because I wasn't feeling good and I don't feel very good right now either. But hey I want to get to know him better so I'll probably go hang out at his place this weekend.

When guys have a body like that, they seem to get a free pass in pretty much every other department. It's why the gym is the default fallback when it comes to compensating for your failings.

Off topic, but why are you seemingly always awake at this ungodly hour (5am)? Are you in a different time zone? Studying for exams 24/7? Have a night job? Or just plain insomniac like me? :)

Well, you can go to the gym and still have an awesome personality, like me.

Kidding. Seriously though, just going to the gym doesn't have to be a masking of failure/issues/insecurities. Some people just like being fit. That said, a lot of guys think that just going to the gym makes them hot/interesting/appealing, when they have no personality whatsoever.
 
I think the internet cultivated my preference for fat butts. I used to think they were unattractive, and in a way, they still kinda are imo. The perfect butt is definitely nice and round, but not as bubbly as for example the guys' in the pic posted above. But, I dunno, the internets obsession with fat butts has rubbed off on me... :)

It's a combination of studying and being a horrible sleeper. Not quite insomnia, just bad quality sleep which messes with my biological rhythm.

Yeah, fit = hot. But I meant 'going to the gym instantly gives me a free pass on having no personality' in those cases. Should have elaborated. Either way I reckon everyone should at least maintain SOME level of fitness.

Ah yes the gym. Today I took a 2 hour commute to go to Wal-Mart to get some protein so I can start p90x but here I am sitting on my ass.

Oh yeah, of course. I didn't mean that anyone who goes to a gym regularly is necessarily compensating for something, only that having a fault - physical or otherwise - that bothers you or hinders efforts to get attention from dudes, it can often be offset by getting all muscle-y. Consider it entirely anecdotal, but even guys with no personality who are in great shape are going to get their fuck on all the goddamn time because the physical appearance is what people like, gay or straight.

I'm quite short and, in my mind, not very attractive, so I've been trying for a few years to get into better shape in the hopes that someone, anyone might show some interest. I guess that's kind of sad, but I've been invisible my entire life.

Go ahead and do it! It didn't work out well for me but I'm sure it will for you! =)

I personalised the tape by writing down the playlist and some comments and I got him a walkman with it in his favorite color. I was surprised that Sony still made them in 2010. They stopped producing them a month before I bought it, but you should still be able to find one new. There must still be a whole stock of them that haven't been sold.
 
I like that the gifts are stuff you worked on as opposed to stuff you can just buy. That's cute I guess even though I typically don't like lovey dovey cheesy stuff. I actually don't really like receiving gifts in a relationship. I feel like it makes everything sour because now you started this whole giftgiving pattern that I have to follow up on. Yeah I'm a cheap douche. Oh well. I also hate the thought that he'd spend money on me. I feel like that's stuff is spent on better things. I think the best gifts are stuff we can do together. Like instead of making him a massive chocolate covered heart, it'd be cool if the two of us bake the massive chocolate covered hearts together. I don't know. This made sense in my mind. I struggle with words.
 
Another thing I've made as a gift is a night lamp out of one of the tea bottles my ex had a bunch of:

It has an on-off switch on the bottle cap and it's connected to an adapter to plug in a wall socket. It's easy to make with very basic knowledge, but you're able to impress anyone with it.
 
tonight, i had my first date since my ex and i broke up (yay). i wasn't really feeling the guy, so it definitely won't be going anywhere. he is unemployed, works jobs for a month and then quits, and just didn't really mesh well with my personality. i want to date someone who has an idea of what they want out of life and has some ambition. and no, i'm not that attracted to him so the fuckbuddy option probably isn't worth it.

i feel good about going out on the date though. i felt like it was a big step for me moving forward. i also didn't have awkward moments during the date and kept the conversation moving. at least i know that i will be fine going on dates with strangers. it felt completely natural.

not really. it was just like a "nice meeting you, see ya later". i have a feeling he liked me more than i liked him though so i will probably have to do the awkward no if he wants to go out again. the only reason i say that is because i'm not too obvious with new people when i don't agree with things they say. i'm sure if people knew me they could pick up on my cues though. we were at the coffee place for nearly 2 hours so that may look like a successful first date to some.

You don't even have to use protein for it to work. I haven't and got great results. That said it's not rocket science, if you're gonna work out 6 days a week of course you get good results...

You know I think that the way you feel does reflect on how people see you. You're a cute guy and I know that not anyone is necessarily looking for a 6'2 giant. I have dated short guys and I think they can be cute. I'm actually afraid of guys that are too tall because I'm not super tall myself.
In any case, I understand that you went through rough times and that you have every reasons to feel the way you do. I just wanted to tell you that you're far from being uninteresting, maybe you just don't see it when people pay attention (if you're like me).

I think I like the idea of random small gifts. I'm cheap too but whenever I actually really like the person I'm with, then I start getting him little gifts and paying for stuff. I have no idea why I do this because that's definitely not my kind of thing. Also I feel super uncomfortable when someone buys me dinner or drinks. I'd rather we do 50/50.


Oh and congratz btk, it's good to get back out there after a break up. Makes you realize that the person you broke up with (or who broke up with you) wasn't necessarily right for you.
