Gaaah... lol. I knew I would have to explain that one. It may sound extremely weird, but this is how I met one of my good friends. Well, once I came out it spread like wildfire. One night a group of us went bar hopping, your typical night in Okinawa. There's this one guy in the group I didn't know too well, pretty huge dude (OVERLY huge bodybuilder type). He kept looking at me the WHOLE night
And not in a good way
I figured he'd heard about me and didn't appreciate me being around, I shrug it off because everyone else was totally fine with it.

We ended up going back to a buddies' place to play some beerpong later that night, so naturally we all start getting wasted quick. Out of nowhere this dude starts screaming at me, saying stuff like "You should get kicked out of the military for lying about who you are" "You're going to hell" etc. This is before "Don't ask, Don't tell" got repelled so I could've really gotten into some trouble for coming out. I'm pretty calm the whole time, actually kind of amused at the situation because the guy was making a fool out of himself in front of everyone. Some people argued with him, but it was obvious this guy was blackout drunk and wasn't all there. I continue to ignore.

Next thing I know this guy flips the beerpong table and tackles me to the floor, chocking me and screaming. He's so freakin huge it takes like 4 guys to get him off me (pretty much right before I lost consciousness). I woke up a second later and he was gone. People wanted to call the cops but I told them I was fine and we finished playing beerpong and laughing at what a douche this guy is. I had slight bruising but nothing too crazy.

The next morning he sent me a FB message apologizing, I ignored him for a week but eventually we spoke in person (after he spent the whole week trying to talk to me of course!). He says it just threw him off that I was gay because I didn't "seem like one", I explained to him not all gays are like the ones you see on TV (and there's nothing wrong with them!). He also said he was completely wasted and only remembered bits and pieces from that night. We patched things up, but obviously it took a while before I was comfortable being around him. This happened a couple of years ago, when I tell you guys he's done a complete 180 that's an understatement. He's a pretty good friend of mine now. He always says how I "changed his life" with his opinion on gays. *tears* =D

TL;DR: Got attacked one night by a random homophobic asshat, eventually patched things up with said asshat, asshat is now a good friend a couple years later. =)

4B0X1, Bioenvironmental. I'm a double cross-trainee... previously a 3C0X2, and prior to that a 2E0X1, all before they merged to the 3D series. Between jumping around multiple job specialties and coming out of the closet, I've had a very unusual military career. Can't say I've been choked by a homophobe yet, though the gay jokes are at full capacity (and make me laugh).

I can't imagine jumping around that many jobs. I was a 3C0X1 before the merger, now I'm a 3D. Although, I've heard Bioenvironmental makes a ton in the civi world, so that's awesome for you. And yeah, the gay jokes are abundant but hilarious on my end too. If MEO hung around my shop they would shit a brick. :lol

I would be absolutely terrified in that situation. I commend you for forgiving him though, I would personally never have the heart to forgive someone who attempted to strangle me so out of the blue like that. Glad to hear that he's a changed person now, hopefully this acceptance surges throughout the US one day.

Also don't agree with the guy using being drunk as an excuse. You don't magically become an ass hole when you're drunk. You just lack the ability to hide your ass holeishness.

I've never been in a fight, but I've punched someone in retaliation. It's usually been that I stood up for myself or ignored the situation, depending on how angry I was/how worthless the people were.

A worthless example is when one kid randomly smacked the paper I was reading as he passed me on the (public) bus (this was around 7th grade). I didn't even look at him and said "What the heck?" confused. He heard me and got in my face and said he'd kill me. I wasn't scared; I only thought how batshit insane this kid was. I just gave him a confused look and he said "Yeah, you'd better." I'm crazy, but not that crazy, so he wasn't worth it.

Ah, the joys of public schools.
Was so glad when I was able to drive and didn't have to take public transportation anymore.
 
Has anyone ever been spontaneously complimented by a straight (Or "Straight") guy and started wondering?

I was at the gym, and minding my own business, went to the locker room after the gym, and this guy walked right up to me (Mid 20's, tall black guy) came up to me and was like "Hey man i see you working out man and you've really changed"

I said "Thank you, im trying to get on your level"

and then stood there for a awkward 2 or 3 seconds that felt like minutes, in silence, and he was like "Alright man I'll see you around!"

So, was he gay? Or just complimenting me because i'm one of the only other black guys who works out at that Golds?

Because if its the former he could GET IT!!!

Sounds like he just noticed you'd improved and decided to be neighborly. People like fostering and being part of a community. It doesn't sound inherently sexual.

Could be he's looking for a work out buddy. I know some guys at my gym that are kind of the same way. They'll just act friendly then ask you to spot them and stuff.
But, who knows. Probably just a wait and see thing.

My school was by the downtown area, so it was good and bad sometimes, mostly neutral. I still remember an older man giving me "I want to rape you" looks. No joke. Our eyes would meet sometimes (My eyes wander while I wait for things, dammit) and he'd open his eyes wide as he raised his eyebrows at me and smiled. He even looked creepy. And he'd do it every single time.
