Gears of War Zero Hour video

Steven Blum (Spike in Bebop) is doing the voice acting for the main character in this game. That's awesome. Hopefully the script doesn't have any dull moments. I'm going through Bebop withdrawl right now (I just finished the series). So I enjoyed hearing his voice in that video.

I hope you're kidding. It looks good but I'll be suprised if the game is released with a solid framerate. Aside from that it's looking good, not a killer app, but good.

What would you consider a solid framerate? Locked 30 fps, or 60 with slight slowdown or locked 60?

Given that they state they will get over 30 all the time I'd say that's solid (it's not PS3 120).
 
That looks very solid, just how a great shooter should be :D
, and yes the framerate is very improved since the last time that they showed the demo

I'm not going to insult them here or anything, but I did want to point out that this sort of statement (THEY'RE STILL BEING WORKED ON!!!1111) has essentially NEVER held true. People have often suggested that textures or animations or something like that are simply not finished and we should wait until the final product before making judgements...but the fact remains, in all of those cases, the final products did NOT fix these issues.

I honestly do not believe the animations will evolve too terribly far between what they've been showing. If they suprise us, that will be great, but I really doubt it will happen and EXPECTING them will only result in disappointment.

The video looks very awesome for the most part, though. It's just a shame that "motion" wasn't higher on their list. The atmosphere is kickass and the actual detail + lighting model is just insane. We've heard the animation argument plenty of times, but what about things like rain? I hate the type of rain they are using there. I'm kinda of suprised they are even using that kind of effect in light of everything else. I mean, something more like MGS2, RE4, or even ICO would be better as those behaved more like actual rainstorms and looked nice while doing so.

That introduction part with the vehicle was very near CG quality, though (low framerate and akward animation bits aside). Very VERY impressive.

he probably means 30fps or more at all times so that with vsync enabled the framerate doesn't drop to 20
