Theres two codes from what I noticed.

One allows you to download the beta and then the other gives you the Beta pass.

Check your other codes Miles to see if one of them says its the Beta Pass.

This is the access message:

The first code is a pre-download code so that you can play right away when you get the access. Not sure why someone would think it would be better to wait to download the game when getting access... but whatever.

I got two codes right away. Redeemed them online and that was it. I think you might be overreacting.

The legacy codes are for downloading the beta, not access.

I got a total of four codes myself

- First code was sent via the Xbox Preview Program telling me to download the beta. I got this RIGHT when the MS Conference ended (which took forever to redeem due to server overloads)
- Second code I got was a duplicate. Apparently the resent them for some reason
- Third code was the access code to allow me to actually play. I got this code at around 10:30 PM EST or right after Sony's Conference ended on Monday night.
- The fourth code was yet another download code, but this was sent because I had played Gears 1, 2 and 3.

It's oddly written though, as if you won't require an additional code. The first one I got the from the Preview Program (including the duplicate) did mention that I would have to wait for an addition access code, wile the legacy download code did not.

I also registered on the Gears site on Monday, in the event things got fucked and I needed an extra.

The beta just reinforces my feelings that it's still the best gears in terms of the multiplayer (Horde mode aside). Really, I don't know why they couldn't capture the same feeling, satisfaction and smoothness that is Gears of War 1.

u want to get the target in the middle of the red circle. the bullets will not come out of the barrell like in gears 3, they come to the centre of screen.

also just a tip, when u are behind someone there is no need to risk a blindfire just pop shot, tap ur left trigger to steady the aim and then fire.

Graphics are improved over original Gears quite a bit.
I really love that they kept old art design (especially architecture) exaclty as it was in Gears 1 though. It looks more detailed and better but it feels the same. I wish it was also true with Halo remakes.

What puzzles me is that they are trying out different settings (active reload is now off) and if they go ahead with that then it is not true to Gears 1 at all...at which point...why have that shitty movement mechanic?

Yesterday I killed myself 2 times with the torque bow for similar reasons on Canals. I'm better off not using it in cover anymore.
