Silly question, but do you have to enable DoF, SMAA, and AO with the numberpad or are they started by default if listed enabled in the .ini as enabled?

I think I figured out what causes the momentary flicker in the AO when going through doors. It's not an easy fix, but should b e doable.Yeah, this is an issue when the game changes the tone mapping, since the AO is now applied pre-tonemapping. It shouldn't really flicker on and off, just be applied with different strength. Sadly I don't have an idea of how to fix that yet.

I also improved the AO quality with no performance loss, mainly by tweaking the distance calculation.
I don't see a need for a save backup feature as it's no longer using GFWL which was notorious for corrupting saves. Same for skip intro since you just need to hammer a button to skip it now.Durante, do you plan to add some more features specifically for DS2 on later version? (Disabling mouse cursor, saves backup, skip intro)
I actually can use the regular, ingame AO, though i don't love it.
Rolling back to GeDoSaTo 0.2 fixed it. Once I ran it, I could use its AO or the DS2 AO as normal. Something definitely broke between 0.2 and 0.3
Unfortunately i have no idea where to even look for a solution, i guess i could try some run of the mill generic solutions, like reinstalling the drivers.

I will add a global mouse cursor disabling setting at some point, not specifically for DS2 but generally for GeDoSaTo. Probably around the same time I tackle borderless windowed mode.
Try turning the HUD back on and do another comparison. I know if you're using SGSSAA and HBAO+ together you need to disable in-game AA, but that doesn't seem to be your case.
Dark Souls II is now VAC-enabled. Does this mean I should refrain from using GeDoSaTo with it for now?
Sounds like it's been VAC enabled since launch, it just wasn't listed on the Steam page.
So I dunno. I'll probably stop using it for now until there's a solid word one way or another.
The way VAC works is it bans you after 2 weeks of it first detecting a 'cheat'.
So it wouldn't make any difference if you stopped using it now or if you used it on launch day.
Wait seriously? We're going to get VAC banned for using this?
We don't know. I believe Valve have no qualms with SweetFX, so we will have to wait and see. They will never uphold the bans though.
Wait what? They won't uphold them? You mean they won't stick?
VAC is automated. If it does ban people, I'm confident Valve will reverse them.
= Well this has been a huge downer then. DS2 works as of today and then I probably got myself banned for life from steam.
If it makes you feel better, many people in this thread will be banned with you if it comes to that!

It does not =\
VAC doesn't ban your steam account, it bans you from playing multiplayer on VAC enabled games.
You're not going to lose your account and purchases.
I'll just lose my purchases that are VAC enabled, like DS2? Still stings. Blah. Well, my fault. I should have read into it more deeply before messing with it.
It has yet to be confirmed that VAC would ban anyone for anything. You are unwittingly psyching yourself out.
Well, if they could, they probably will. It's automated right?
it could sure, but then manually reversed due to its unfairness.
I would wait it out if you are so nervous. I will happily continue using the mod. If i get a vac ban (for which there are no reports of...)I will raise hell until it is lifted.
I hope everything works out, i couldn't stand playing the game without GeDoSaTo now.
Especially the post processing and DoF bits.
Hey Durante, this is probably a little outside of your wheelhouse but do you think VAC would ban users of your mod? I read something about.dll injectors being a problems for VAC enabled titles, does this mod do that? It seems weird since you made an article at PC Gamer about using the mod and I'm sure a ton of people (such as myself) didn't know it would be VAC bannable.Valve wouldn't really do that would they?
Durante said It is not trying to hide itself at all . so yes , Programs like VAC will probably detect it and ban you for it.
Found this post regarding SweetFX and VAC
SweetFX does not inject data into the EXE of the game.
While people call the shader mods injectors, they are not code injectors in the original meaning of the word, in that they do not inject code into another process, but have their own separate process.
SweetFX is a set of shaders that run using the InjectSMAA dlls which is a Direct3D proxy dll that redirects the Direct3D render surface to another surface and then runs an extra shader pass on that surface before returning the output to the backbuffer.
VAC rules does not explicitly state that this is allowed, but neither does it state that this is not allowed.
Since Valve have never explicitly stated that it is allowed, it remains a grey area, but in the two years that such shader mods have existed no one have ever been banned for using them.
VAC seems to only detect things which can be used to cheat and shader mods such as FXAA tool and SweetFX can not be used to cheat.

Durante only warned that since GDS does not even try to hide itself . it might and probably will Ban people when trying it in games That have VAC enabled .
Hey Durante, I know this really Isn't a major issue or anything that might not interest anyone else but is it at all possible to make distant enemies/NPCs not locked at 5FPS?
Reposting for the new page, because this is getting out of hand.
From what we know of VAC, it's not a purely automated process; if it were, we would have already seen bans happen. Valve seems pretty careful about not affecting users who are not actually cheating from the few times they've discussed it.
I had asked about the possibility to anti-cheat bans being caused by GeDoSaTo pages ago mainly for other anti-cheat systems we don't know as much about (namely, GameGuard), which I don't trust to be nearly as careful.
Well, people are freaking out and don't want a BAN when cheating wasn't happening. I'm getting worried myself, I've never had a VAC ban in 10 years as a Steam user and it would suck if one of my favorite games received one just because I was trying to improve the experience. I hope we get some answers soon. I don't want to have to create an alt account just to play DS2...
GeDoSaTo is not a cheating tool, cannot be used to cheat, VAC doesn't have a history of banning people that use tools that can't be used to cheat, and there are probably thousands if not tens of thousands of people using GeDoSaTo. You have better chances of winning the lottery than of being permanently banned by using GeDoSaTo with Dark Souls 2.
As I understand it, the GeDoSaTo tool intercepts the games commands, modifies them and sends it back. Isn't that going to be detected by VAC as a possible cheat system even if it is not being used as such?
VAC bans supposedly take up to 2 weeks to become active, so we will be left in the dark for another week or so if they happen.
[Asmodean];109838254 said:Dunno why people are freaking out about VAC lol. Firstly this isn't some shady program that nobody is aware of - it's been plastered all over pc gaming sites since Dark Souls II was released on PC last week. Secondly stopping use of it now, if you've already done so is pointless. More to the point, the more people that keep using it, the less likely you'll be banned. Even if Valve hadn't heard about this app yet, only a pack of morons would think half the community has been cheating since day-one launch.
TL;DR chill out and stop panicking ;p
Would this tool offer any advantages if I'm already able to downsample via Nvidia's control panel?
