Geist Killer

Uh oh! Nintendo better watch out! Microsoft's got a game coming out that's eerily similar in concept to Geist! Does the infamous developer of Danger Girls on PSOne (n-Space) stand a chance against the developer of HALO?
"Bungie announced a new third person action game called Stubbs The Zombie, which is developed by Wideload Games, using the Halo game engine. You play the role of a Zombie named Stubbs, who has the ability to possess his opponents, and take over their weapons. The game will have chaotic action, stealth gameplay not present in Halo."
Stubbs the Zombie

Isn't this produced by Majesco. It does look very good though.

Yes, Geist will kick Stubbs' ass. Old BTW.
Geist......Geist does that game still exist. Stubbs looks like a lot more fun.

So this will be the third E3 for Geist. If the game sucks after all this time in development, we might have found a developer to take the title of "worst developer" away from Titus. :P

Geist is the most underhyped game ever from Nintendo.

I hardly know anything about it, besides that the graphics needed an overhaul. But still, I look forward to seeing the quality of the game.

Well if you want to be technical, the term "killer" is generally reserved for games that are actually popular, respected, and have been released to widespread sales. Geist is at least 6-7 months from being released, and looks crap. It doesn't need to be "killed".

It's also used for comparing games only within a genre. The zombie title is most likely NOT a first person shooter.

Both Messiah and Maxen X died of old age. They can not be killed anymore.

BTW, you forgot to add this to your post.

Geist has not even been born yet. How can it be killed? The proper title should be "Geist Aborter".

What does this thread have to do with Sony? :scratch

Plus, Stubbs is a third person adventure and not a FPS.

OMG PsiOps is the Geist killer because you can mind control people in it!

The real Geist Killer is Avenging Spirit (Arcade/GBA).

One of the most overlooked classics of our time.

I've never heard of that game; I'll have to play it. But (judging from a Google search), I think you meant the original GB, not GBA.

BTW, it does seem a bit weird that a game where you play a cute cartoon ghost possessing cute cartoon people is called "Avenging Spirit," raher than, say, "Happy Magical Ghost Adventure."

Geist -- last year's E3 version -- was decent. From what was shown, it seemed as if the best it could aspire to was a low 8. That said, by the time the game comes out it'll have been over one year since that build. The concept has a lot of potential but it's anyone's guess as to whether the gameplay will be simply acceptable or surprisingly fun.

They took down notes from what people thought of it at E3 and are putting a ton of work into it. Expect big changes.

I don't expect a whole lot from Geist, but I'd be willing to bet it's going to surprise alot of people. Another solid addition to the Cube lineup is all I'm hoping for.

Heh, yeah. Mistype. :)

The storyline is that you got gunned down, and you have to save your girlfriend (who is also the daughter of the guy who brought you back). There's a bunch of characters to use, and the twist at the end is awesome as hell.

Geist Killer? Wouldn't that imply that Geist was actually better than at least one other game in order for it to be need to be killed?

Oh, but if you really want a Geist Killer here it is:

What's the twist at the end? Spoil me.

Mind you, a few things here might be inaccurate--I think I recall there being multiple endings, but not sure.

Before you go against the last boss, you have the chance to take over the girl who you're supposed to rescue. Seems she's the most powerful being in the game, but was too afraid to use it. :lol

damnit......... Geist is not even out yet. it might suck so bad that even a game made by 989 will be called geist killer :D

I've played Geist two years in a row at E3 guys, and it seriously isn't bad. It's a really good game with a great concept. Do you really think Nintendo would publish a title from a company with a reputation like nSpace's and really expect something around the quality of their previous games?

Retro had never released a game ever, and under Nintendo's guidance they released Metroid Prime, one of the best games this generation.

After Star Fox Assault, it's pretty evident that Nintendo's ability to select third pary publishers cannot be trusted anymore. Advance Wars: Under Fire seems to be yet another mistake on Nintendo's behalf.

I agree with Kobun & StrikerObi, Geist was surprisingly not bad at E3 last year. I'd say in the 8.0-8.5 review score range sounds right if they carry through on the promise of the demo. The boss fight were you could possess all of his cronies and turn them on him (including security cameras as a means of distraction) was inventive, and the dog-possession part was fun.

It's also a game that leaves a wide variety of tactics up to the player. You can try possessing people or just barreling in with guns blazing. I liked the section where you have to solve a rivet-gun challenge to quell your supervisor's suspicions that you're not the employee that you've possessed. You can either solve the puzzle and pass by him in peace, or say to Hell with it and turn the rivet-gun on your boss! :lol

At e3 2003, Geist seemed really neat. At e3 2004, it seemed less exciting. I hate to think of what it will be like at e3 2005.

(When I first saw Geist in 2003, I was really interested... it seemed to be a mostly original take on the FPS genre...)

You have to be joking... even if it sucks, there's plenty of budget crap out there that's almost guaranteed to be far worse.

Didn't the most recent Star Fox see two E3s and turn out to be largely considered average?

The difference being that both Star Fox Assault and Advance Wars: Under Fire have no really good press from anybody, whereas Geist does.
