Geometry Wars harder now?

Is it me or is Geometry Wars harder now? Since they still haven't fixed/restored the high scores, what it looks like is that they've made the game harder? Also, if you look at the scores, they aren't as high as before. Am I imagining this or do other people feel that the game is harder now?
 
This is exactly what I thought yesterday.
The game is faster paced now and harder stuff spawns earlier.
The swarms of mini blue things were happening at 100k last night, instead of the usual 200k+.
 
sometimes it's way way harder than other times. I always score the highest on the easier times.

Yes, they've always been random, but there was a pattern at least. You knew you'd get the triple bullets at the first remotely stressful situation (now the stress happens when you still have the starting bullets). Also, the red things that dart towards you with a barrier seem to be a lot more aggressive now (i.e. they dart instantly on spawning).
 
I'm no expert at this game, but my high score early on was in the 600,000's. Now, I'm struggling to get even half that, if I'm lucky. Maybe I'm having a bad day or something....hehehe.
 
I haven't played the game in over a week, but I'm pretty sure you're losing it. You're probably just having an "off" day and are trying to attribute it to something else. Personally, sometimes the game feels faster or slower to me, depending on how I'm playing. I've also had certain spawns happen much earlier than usual in some sessions. I don't know, I just find it hard to believe that they forced an update on everyone, unannounced, to make the game harder.

You're probably right! I shouldn't play it after hours of Ridge frustration :)

I know what you are saying but I still wanna say it's always been that way.
 
i've had stressful situations early and red things popping out at ~90k. i'm gonna go try it really quick again though.
 
The only thing I could really tell that was different was possibly the inclusion of more red guys? One game I got 3 red guys shoot out at around 100k. Another game I scored 819k which is about 100k shy of my best, but red guys were flying around like nobody's business.

agreed, though yes, the games difficulty seems a bit random to me. some games wont get really hairy till 300,000 or so, others you'll barely make it to 100,000 before the screen is packed with stuff, including those damn red guys :(

Yeah, that's the only thing frustrating about GW2. The first 10k are especially painful.
 
played the game again last night

- The enemy speed is up
- the spawn rate at the start is up
- the tiny blue things appear almost all the time around 80-100 (rather than at around 250-300k)
- red homers appear around 40-50k!!

I'm not one of the uber good players, but i play GW2 every single day, and the game is DEFINITELY different.

My one complaint used to be that the first minute or so of the game was dull because there was so little on the screen - the game took a while to get going. Now that's not the case - the first enemies are faster and there is slightly more of them.

*shrug*

there are too many people imagining the same changes for this to be all in our heads!!!
 
I'm not one of the uber good players, but i play GW2 every single day, and the game is DEFINITELY different.

I'm also not one of the uber players, but I cannot consistently get high scores like I used to. My friend, who is a better player than me (for now), is nearly at a million and he also says that this game is harder now.
 
Game is harder now,I used to get to 800k with ease and now I struggle to even get to 600k.

Wtf game was hard enough and like DCharlie I play the game every day and have noticed eveything he posted.

I hit 1 million a few times before,I cant even get close now.
 
Hrmm...how can it just change?

I mean, they could have programmed it to change like this from the get-go...but otherwise, it would mean your games were silently updated..

easy - XML file defining a number of parameters for speed and spawn , enemy spawn markers (Reds come in at 50k etc etc) - have it stealth download when you connect to live.

How large can the file be? 10kb? 20kb?

You'd not even notice it's there.
 
everything is exactly the same

the spawn amounts, the speed, everything

played 3 times to 150 k (a little sloppy since i haven't played in a couple weeks)

and i didn't see the blue things once, all the early spawns were the same as they were before
 
Weird, they make it harder but then I also hit my first 200k game on my first try yesterday.

I mean, it makes a little sense I guess... harder = more spawns = more points if you can stay alive.

EDIT: I don't know for sure if they made it harder, just going on perceptions here. I know they won't tell me either way.
 
No it hasn't changed. You just haven't played it enough to realize that the game changes things up game after game and each game is different than the others.

Shit spawns differently because their game AI is probably randomly seeded.

In order for it to change, they would have had to force a downloaded update on you - and no, I am sure it's not time sensitive either.

You guys kill me.
