[ACE 1991]

It seems that there is a lot of trash out there these days. I really want a new series to jump into, but I'm not sure what. Any recommendations of anything in a similar vein of Fullmetal Alchemist? I never watched Berserk so I may have to try that, although older it seems to be fairly well received critically. In terms of more recent series, what am I missing out on? Please no comedy recommendations, I can't stand Anime humor for the most part.

If you want something in the vein of FMA - watch eureka seven, it's by bones, and has a similar epic length to FMA.
Recent stuff - full metal alchemist brotherhood?

It's not on the list, but Cat Soup is one that a friend recommended a while back, and I enjoyed very much. It's short, 45 minutes, but really abstract and trippy, if you like that sort of thing.
