Gex Trilogy now actually playable on Switch 2 today

They finally got the update out for Gex Trilogy on the Switch 2 today. The game came out last week but only worked on the Switch 1. It wouldn't boot up on the Switch 2 …so not sure why it was allowed to be sold on the shop.

The Carbon Engine they use for these games has caused issues in the past.

I did the quick update and now it plays good.

PSA!!! There is no auto save. I couldn't find it anywhere and I lost 2 hours of playtime. Turns out you have to press in the right stick to bring up an overlay which will allow you to save and load.
I wasn't made clear really.

they do warn about that

If you're talking about having to manual save? They do. But once in the game there is no way to save unless you saw the fine print mentioning the R3. You can't see controls once in the game to see this. Once you exit the progress is lost. They just should have made it a lot clearer, as the + and - buttons won't help at all.

I didn't even realise this had released already. Is it at least a solid remaster job?

Its the lowest effort port. They pretty much made it playable on modern systems but everything else is unchanged, including the wonky controls. At least its normal file size unlike the lazy Croc port which was like 35GB in size lol.

Supposedly they have some vide files there that they didnt bother compressing. I mean game was literally 300mb on release, I dont know how unhinged the developers were when they made zero effort to compress anything. Honestly just because of the file size I refused to get the game. I have games that are over 100GB which im fine with because I know where that data went but this...forget it.

Was their marketing campaign centred around people going "What a Croc of s…." :D?

Oh my oh my…

Nah, they put some effort in Croc at least. This looks like shit.

I wouldn't call such games "ports". It's a cheap, but official emulator.

I wonder, if they upscaled 2d elements at least.
