I didn't know Shadow looks so good on PS5 or PS5 Pro. Will play it one day for sure.

Eek why did they make her so ugly?

Oh ok but those comparison are both running on ps5? The video dosen't say anything about that. Also the cost of development of Yotei is supposedly more or less the same as GoT. If that's true then the cost of development of shadows is a lot more than Yotei around $116m from what searched.Shadows on Pro in 60fps mode is like 75% of how PC version looks, 40fps mode closer to 90% (added RT reflections and hair tech).

Damn, they really couldn't have gone with a hot Japanese chick. Such a wasted opportunity.
Yotei holds up well and this is PC vs. PS5. The true comparison will be when Yotei comes to PC.
Yeah that's what I'm waiting for, there is potential to be unlocked through raytracing if Sony allow Nixxes to really push it.Will be interesting how much love Sony give to the Yotei pc version

This is one of many towns in AC Shadows, not the biggest or the most dense but I have not seen anything on this scale in Yotei:
You almost sold me on Shadows there, then came the fight and the dumb AI with enemies waiting forever to attack.
Looks good though. A bit weird when certain things are fragile and can be easily destroyed and others are made of adamantium, but the destruction is impressive. How many forced bulky samurai missions are there? I really just want to play as the ninja.
There are many parts in Yotei that look too underwhelming, and if you were telling me it was from a PS3 game, I wouldn't be surprised. How is this even possible for a game running on PS5 with 16.7 teraflops?

Sounds pretty alright. I loved Odyssey, favorite AC for me, I must have close to 200h in it.You can avoid playing as Yasuke most of the time. There are only few forced story segments with him, then you can choose character for every mission (and in open world as well).
Stealth gameplay is very good in this game, open fight is more or less in line with other AC games. It's certainly the best Assassin's Creed game since Odyssey, but of course people that hate AC won't suddenly like this game. When it comes to gameplay vs. Tsushima - they trade blows, some aspects are better in "Ghost of" series and some are better in ACS. Story of GoT for sure is better...
Anyone that claims this was a complete victory for AC is just straight up blind, trolling or in too deep in their agenda against GoY. So many close calls and upsets. Watch the damn video before commenting and not swallowing cherry picked screens in this thread.
Main Character models: Yotei wins hands down. Naoe looks like a plastic doll. Eye rendering, lashes, eyebrow, skin shaders, lips, self shadows,
materials are straight up a generation behind. Her face may look aesthetically more pleasing (she does have a blow up doll kind of look and apparently ppl are into that), but it's an absolute tech beatdown by Atsu.
Hair rendering: AC wins by a small margin. Excellent hair physics for Naoe, but Atsu gets shadows from her hair. Overall Atsu's looks more like real, thick hair than the nylon strings Naoe has. Though I'd say Naoe's looks better from behind, which is how we play and it reacts nicely to motion and wind. I'd still call this a win for Naoe overall, just because the physics sells it better.
Day/night cycle: don't know what the fuck capture that was. Skip!
Cloud rendering: That wasn't a good capture of AC. If what they showed in the video is all it's got, GoY wins hands down
Water: AC wins hands down. Barely any improvement at all for GoY, so it's clearly a gen behind. If not two.
Rain: Slight win for Yotei. AC mostly looks like straight white lines, like opaque sprites. Yotei actually look like droplets and are hard to capture in compressed shots. They accumulate and react well to light too. Look at it in motion. Don't be fooled by screenshots. Especially from a certain cat and a certain guy that rhymes with Emoji.
Waterfall: Neither look great. Each seems to have strengths and weaknesses. It's a tie imo. Though I can see ppl leaning towards AC as it looks better in screenshots, and we all know we all just play screenshots.
Rocks/Pebbles: AC wins, although pretty close, surprisingly.
Snow: Both look great. I prefer Yotei's snow but only because it seems deeper in that example. It's a tie. Great job of deformation and lighting by both.
Ice: AC wins. Way more convincing and realistic. I wonder how much ice GoY even has outside that one location. In any case AC beats whatever is there
Destruction: AC hands down. 'Nuff said
Tree textures: Yotei wins?? Didn't see that comin'
General Foliage: Yotei's strength. AC holds up really well and has better destruction and more convincing wind movement but Yotei is on another level in terms of art. It's awe inspiring. Impossible to hand a win to AC when vistas look the way they do for Yotei.
Horse: Lol. Yotei is a generation ahead. AC horse looks like the lower tier random wildlife in Yotei.
Lighting: AC has a lead in terms of tech. Looks more realistic. Yotei looks better artistically. Depending on what we are rating on, I'd call the win for one game or the other. And I personally think art is more important for the average gamer than graphics tech. I'm sure AC wins on a maxed out PC as I remember seeing fantastic shots. Currently just judging based on video shown.
So in terms of clear winners, AC really just wins in water effects, hair, rocks, ice and all kinds of physics and destruction. Rest are trading blows, or Yotei ahead.
If you disagree on any of these, show some real evidence from good quality footage or screenshots and we can debate pros and cons, like adults. Peace!![]()
Youtube called, it want it's still frame from a blurry video back.PS2 called, it wants its barn texture back.

Then we can compare gameplay models when the game is out. I'm pretty sure nothing is being swapped as the Gamersyde high bitrate gameplay footage has all that being shown in gameplay closeup, such as during assassinations. It's simply on a different level. But I'll leave that objection open. My verdict is based on the video shown. We can't be cherry picking when it's inconvenient to our preconceived conclusion. I actually came in thinking shadows would just beat it on every aspect technically. It does that only on half of them.I will only talk about character models. Most games swap gameplay models with cutscene models when entering photo mode, so comparison like that can only show how much better cutscene models look (Lod 0). Gameplay models may be very different compared to that.
But agree, Atsu model is more detailed than Naoe (horse is more handsome as well).
Im playing shadows for a bit now, I was one shitting on it when all the stupid decisions emerged from ubisoft about it, not that it counts much but I'm having way more fun playing shadows then i had with playing valhalla.
Some lore changes here n there and no lies from Ubi could've secured them some more sales easily.
I'm even kinda surprised i begin to.... like the "Samurai" (to write this is super strange)
There's none as the game hasn't been released yet. But you guys should know better than to judge texture quality from a 6000kbps Youtube video. You can always share with us better quality capture of that texture.

If I'm honest there were few parts where I thought Yeti looked better to me thats rain with that nice fog and the snow so fluffy, but that's about it.Yotei looks like an enhanced version of a PS4 game. Shadows looks much more "next-gen". I think they both look good, but Shadows is clearly ahead, IMO.
Every freaking time, starts with a 3rd party game and then somehow an upcoming Xbox game is always part of the whole « impressive games » list by the end of the argument. I saw that with Halo Infinite, Starfield, Avowed and Hellblade 2.Neither look particularly impressive, RDR2 is overall better looking than both and it came out 7 years ago. Next year we'll have GTA 6 and Fable both will blow these away and in the case of GTA a new open world benchmark will be set.
