Ghostbusters: Afterlife first photos

First photos of Ghostbusters: Afterlife have been released. This is basically Ghostbusters 3 and has nothing to do with the reboot. Trailer will be released on Monday.

Hauntings are real. They happen all the time, although not necessarily in a supernatural sense.

Regrets about the past. Guilt over lost moments. Unfinished business.

The single mom and her two kids at the center of Ghostbusters: Afterlife have all these conflicts, complications, and issues—but on top of that, this family is also dealing with actual free-floating, full-torso vaporous apparitions, focused nonterminal repeating phantasms, and Class 5 full-roaming vapors.

Real nasty ones too.

A trailer for the July 10 film will debut on Monday, and Vanity Fair got an exclusive glimpse of the new characters at the heart of the story, with The LeftoversCarrie Coon starring as mom Callie, I, Tonya’s Mckenna Grace as her science-obsessed daughter Phoebe, and Stranger ThingsFinn Wolfhard as gearhead son Trevor. They have left everything they know and moved to a small town in Oklahoma after inheriting property from the father she didn’t know.

Official synopsis:

"When a single mom and her two kids arrive in a small town, they begin to discover their connection to the original ghostbusters and the secret legacy their grandfather left behind."

They're Egon's grandkids.

Am I the only dumbass who missed that it had a title? I didn’t know it was called Afterlife.

cant wait

It was Ghostbusters 2020 until today.

The setting sounds so boring. and cheap.. reminds me of Jeepers Creepers III.
I'm also getting a very weird Star Trek reboot vibe from those pics : kids find abandoned car, take it for a ride, ends in a near disaster...

My intuitions tell me "Meh".

It's written and directed by the son of the guy who made the first two and who was on the sets of both movies. And he told Ray they were full of shit.

Why does it have to be grandchildren? Why does it have to be children at all? What’s kinda annoying me is we’re under the assumption this is Egon’s family, right? Egon had no family in Ghostbusters 2, and that was 30 years ago. Did he have a family like immediately have a wife and get her pregnant after GB2, and did their daughter just immediately get knocked up after high school? I’m not saying these things aren’t possible, but it’s also just too narrow of a window for me, especially for a character not in an established relationship last time we saw him. Especially if ghostbusters the video game is canon.

Also, why does the Ecto 1 still look like that? I always thought that the Ecto-1A was just the original Ecto 1, just tuned up and repainted. I dunno, I'm not really optimistic I guess, because I'm just feeling beaten over the head with these bad reboots, or sequels to classics from my childhood, and it's just gotten to the point where I don't care anymore.

I saw female Ghostbusters but I can't even remember if it was in universe with the previous films? Can anyone else remember? Do we think we'll see any nods to that film? lol
Is this set in contemporary times?

It was a complete separate remake/reboot. No connection to the original movies.

Thanks.
If it was in continuity, I was wondering if there would be throwbacks to the original films and the newer one. Would have been interesting if they did.

I like the idea of changing the setting.

And thank goodness it's a sequel. Rebooting it was a bad idea (amongst the many other bad ideas regarding the development of that film).

I just really hope the original cast comes back in a significant way at some point. Like they have to come to the aid of the family in order to fight off, or come up with a solution to whatever is going on in this movie. I know they're in the movie, but if they're pushed aside as "old people who can't do anything anymore" then I'm gonna be pissed.

Rocky Balboa really was a good example of doing a sequel right, where just because someone is old, didn't mean they were useless, or couldn't do something anymore. The Ghostbusters were never about being in peak physical shape, "suck in the guts guys, we're the Ghostbusters". They were out of shape exterminators. This idea that these roles need to be filled by younger people drives me crazy, because they don't.

Apparently they're all back including Murray.

Right, and I knew they were all back for something, I'm just afraid they'll be tiny cameos, in one, maybe two scenes, and worse not even be important to the plot.

The main characters are Egon's grandkids. It's like a Stranger Things movie (complete with one of the kids from that show). You probably won't see Peter, Ray, and Winston strapping on proton packs.

i don't like the kids

what was great about ghost busters was it was grown men taking existing wacky things semi-seriously

there is a strong stranger things quality about these kids and it brings feelings of doubt

otherwise, only time will tell how this goes

Ghostbusters set in the midwest?

Hoo boy. That's not going to well with some liberal movie fans. *cough*MovieBob*cough*

I'm all for it though. We could do with a change of setting as I was getting sick and tired of seeing New York in every movie.

But don't forget to bring on the scares. The original Ghostbusters may have been a comedy but it didn't forget that the horror elements were just as important. That's something the shitty 2016 reboot forgot, the ghosts aren't supposed to be part of the gag!

Imagine this thing becomes a big hit and completly crushes GB 2016 BO/Critic reception.

I am going to say this will happen. Its already got a step up by not looking super woke.

Can't wait to be blamed for liking this GB and being a misgoynist bigot.
Your misogyny disgusts me! I'm calling the police!!

I guess I should wait for the trailer, but at this moment I'm hoping it's not a Stranger Things meets Ghostbusters situation.
