It was more about getting setup on a TV and being able to use the original controllers. I could do the emulator route, but that's on the PC, or using something like an Ouya. (And if I am going to go the Ouya route, at that point why not buy a Retron.)

Yeah that's true. Still the ouya wouldn't be too bad as an option. Play atari all the way to psx. They working on dreamcast too. I'd like some kind of retron system that would let me use my famicom disk system or sega cd. Only a matter of time I guess.

Why not just use an emulator (for games which you own). You can play at 60fps for some games and up the rendering to crazy levels so games look awesome. I don't get the appeal.
