Giant Bomb #8 | It's a Hit!

I'm enjoying the Giant Beast stream. They're definitely getting there studio-wise and I'm really excited to see what they make. Hopefully they make some video producer hires next year so Vinny can be on-camera all the time.

"This is Retarded" and "You Slut" I seem to notice a lot. Shit, Fuck, and the like all seem to slip by me - especially in a GB setting.

Thankfully, GB never seen to use "Retarded" as a slur much. Heard it a few too many times on Weekend Confirmed and 8-4 Play though :/
 
I just realized that Brad never once had a "bio-break" on Freedom Stream - unless he slipped out and I did not notice. That's almost 4 hours - very impressive for Brad

I still slip on "retarded" every now and then and it makes me empathize with people like Ryan who let "faggot" slip every once in a while. Old habits die hard, even after you realize how hateful a word is.
 
Dan Ryckert is great and far exceeded my expectations as a new addition, but it's still super weird seeing him on the couch with the GB guys.

I guess it'll take a few weeks for me before it makes sense in my head.

Yeah that is weird because on any other live stream he takes like 5 "Bio-break"s.

I notice "bitch" when it's used, and it makes me cringe. But like you, I don't really notice shit or fuck in the GB setting.

Retarded is an odd one since I've seen a few instances now of people who seem to be aware they shouldn't use "retarded" just inserting "disabled" or " mental" in as the insult, which completely defeats the purpose.

Was there anything on the freedom stream besides fighting games and dota? Cause as much as I want to see the new dudes on a stream, you'd be hard pressed to find two sorts of games I give less of a shit about.

They played wrestling games, some weird Japanese egg RPG, Sanrio World Smash Ball, Tetris Battle Gaiden, Commando, some turkey bowling game... it was a wide variety of games.

I find that Pre-edom stream is way more interesting than Freedom stream.

Dan asked too many valid questions that are not dumb enough. We need dumber stuff.

PS: Brad playing Dota == Brad sleeping.
 
The moment I knew Mr. Dan Ryckert was a man after my own heart was when he was telling the OCD story about how he had a VMU that was tracking game play time that died after 400+ hours, so he got a new one and let it run idle for over 400 hours so that the played time clock matched the old one. That is OCD dumbness on a level that I could only hope to achieve.
 
Watching Dan's face while he's playing fighting games is absolutely mesmerizing. The sounds, the sights, the intensity. I think I may lose an afternoon making some inaugural gifs.

Actually with Dan's history he should get all his new work mates to join him on a World Record attempt.of some sort
 
What makes you like GiantBomb more than any other side out there?

I keep thinking about that question. Some years ago I was really soaking up all the podcasts out there. But for some reason The GiantBombcast is the only one that sticked with me. Over the time I started to check out their video material as well. It's obvious that the Quicklooks were a great idea from the start.

But what is it that makes them stand out? Their characters? The Group teamwork? Just want to know your opinion about this, GAF.
 
how was the freedom stream? worth downloading?

also what's that new song they played alongside lockdown. it had a bunch of food stuff in it.

The group dynamic is mostly it. I think they are all a bunch of cool and funny guys and really enjoy almost all of the content they put up. They were also really smart with QLs and basically realised video game media was stagnant so they evolved. I never read reviews anymore, I just watch QLs and I'm really surprised every major game publication hasn't followed suit.
 
Glad to see they put the site on Ryan mode, I just won't have time to watch any of that :(

Their content has just the right mix of information and entertainment. Also I like that they're more or less just regular dudes and not characters (unlike some Youtube people). Also helps that they're all really funny.
