Why are you considering buying expensive dandies for someone you just met?

If you insist on buying her something, though, go for something memorable. It needn't necessarily be expensive, so long as it complements the character of your budding relationship.

I think she'd just melt for something like this.

I don't think she would like that

well when I said 'just met', really means we've had a few outings, dinners. Also I'm not planning to spend that much, that's why I'm asking for other options, similar handbag+scarf but cheaper

You said "loved one", yet you also said "someone you just met".

That's just a little creepy.

Thread title is more general where other posters can post gift ideas

Get some Magic: The Gathering decks. I've recently been convinced that they are the best gift from one loving person to another. They also, as I've been told, help to build math skills and improve problem-solving.

Good luck!

Problem is, without knowing the personality of the girl in question, you'll just be bombarded with all the same old ideas.

I dunno, maybe I'm old-fashioned, but something from YOU probably holds more meaning than anything we come up with. Come on, man, put some effort into this.

I don't think he wants her to be a nerd!

^^ Win!

My lady wants some Cult of Cartmen DVD, a Purple iPod, Sleeping Beauty on Blu Ray, the new Britney Spears CD, Purple BlackBerry 8350 with Verizon, Plush Dug from UP, and Victoria's Secret gift cards.

Her birthday is December 21 as well.

I have already bought her the New Super Mario Brothers for the Wii as she loved Mario 3.

c'mon GAF, somebody must know where i can get similar cute cheaper, handbag like in the OP

Stuff like that is pretty tricky. You don't want to go too cheap and end up with something tacky. Also, a gift like that puts a pretty big burden on the receiver. Matching scarf and handbag combos might just not be her thing, but now she has to use them in your company sometime--it can become a hassle.

I'd go for something a little simpler. Maybe just a scarf, or just a handbag, or a hat or something.

Wait a bit before throwing down a few hundreds on her. While you do want to show her that you are able to provide (and well) for her, dishing out for presents this early on is a little preemptive. If the girl dumps you a week later, your wallet is a little lighter and she's probably laughing about the fact that some idiot bought her a bag and a scarf for their third date.

Besides, this early on in the relationship, showering the girl with affection and presents is not a good idea.

A handbag seems like a kinda generic gift to me, no offense. Use your imagination!

That too. Unless she specifically hinted for something of the sort. Also, it's not the best idea to buy fashion accessories for women you barely know.

Yeah, if she goes "I want x", then it's ok and it's also easy. But if you can spruce it up and show you're not a robot, that's a plus. Not saying you should make her something out of construction paper, but it might be sweet if you did. :p

Fuck. I actually wanted this to be a legit gift idea thread, but it's just a stealth girl-age thread :(

My mom wants me to split the costs of an annual passport to Disneyland for my nephew. I don't exactly like the idea because that requires my sister and bro-in-law to drop $600 so they can go too.

There is no one gift that works universally, other than cash. I had a friend who quoted things pertaining to angels, so I found these cool angel statues. I had a friend who liked to smoke, so I got her a carton of cigarettes (and quoted Breakfast Club when I gave it to her). This year, I've got a friend who likes Vincent Price. So I'm gonna go to Point Dume and collect some sand in a bottle, because that's where his ashes were scattered. Different people require different levels of imagination when it comes to gift giving.
