No, he isn't. If he wanted to be rational, he wouldn't call the Nexus One a POS. Do you really think I need to refute that beyond calling him out for the bullshit that statement is?
Again, you're coming across way too strongly, dude. First reply was a "fuck you". Second reply was a "that bitch", third reply is a "bullshit".

It's just an opinion!

I hope newer touch screen phones would use Pixel Qi's transflective display or tech similar to it. Not being able to see shit in direct sunlight is so annoying.

Ok I heard front facing camera and I said "cool"... but now that I'm looking at it... is there no camera on the back?

Does this mean we have no useful 'live view' on the screen unless we're taking photos of ourselves? :P

Really, $500 paperweight is an opinion? There is a line we all draw as to the validity of someone's opinion. If you really think that is a valid critique, then there isn't much hope for reasonable discussion about phone technology here now is there?

To put it simply, he stopped having an opinion and started being a troll the day he sent it back and started shitting on Google/HTC every chance he got. Go check his post history if you doubt me. I get the impression you don't know his documented history with the N1, which is why I mention looking at his post history.

No, there are two cameras. Look at the photos.

Oh.. I see... I thought the photo of the back camera was a duplicate of the front pic there.

Thank god.

Wish the top and bottom bezel (where the home button & camera is) could have been trimmed a bit tbh, it looks even bigger than the 3GS due to the lack of the silver all-around rim/bezel.

The issue is, they're trying to keep the screen ratio equivalent to previous models in order to not force developers to alter all their apps.

so September is the rumored month the iPhone comes to Verizon? what do you guys think the base-model will have, storage-wise?

Forget the month. It's still just a rumor that it's even coming to Verizon at all. Don't get your hopes up.

Base model will probably be a 16GB 3GS, and the 4G will be 32 and 64.

Ever consider that's what they want you to think? A controlled leak wouldn't be very effective if it was obvious.
If it ever comes to light they leaked to Giz and only Giz, can you imagine the outrage from all the rival blogs and Mac blogs? :lol

sir we are apple experts and when apple leaks it's to walt or that guy at nytimes, not some homeless loking asian guy at gizmodo.

Man I can't tell if we're being AstroLaded.

They don't leak and they certainly don't let anyone look at anything before it's 100% complete and showed in a controlled environment by Apple. That's pretty much the entire reason they get so much more hype than similar companies. They don't leak anything and they put things out as soon as they're announced if possible, which is what makes the rumor mill go insane.

Exactly, and that's why it won't ever come to light. They just destroyed all the great buzz other phones have been getting in one fail swoop. Shady maybe, but hella impressive.

In my experience whatever Liu Kang says about Apple is true. :lol Astrolad fail.

I assume they'll remove all the screws and lines around the phone, but whatever.
Still don't like it.

Love the feature set, but man. Do not like.

I am quite glad that the chrome ring seems to be gone.

It’s bugged me a few times while docked in my car as the sunlight can reflect off it and bounce into my eye.

I know that’s a rare case but, still, it won’t happen with the new design.

What's the point of increasing the resolution so dramatically if the screen size is the same?

Seems pointless to me.
What's the point of an HDTV when it's the same size as your SDTV?

The 3GS has 2 screws in the same place Gizmodo's pictured phone does. I doubt those go away.

We're talking a 3.2 inch screen. He has a point, and a bump to 3.7 would have been welcomed.
I have a feeling that a screen this small and high res is going to look dreamy. It's gonna have this effect that, even if you're not tech-inclined, the iPhone is going to look futuristic all over again. This is how it will sell itself.

And in practical terms, you can watch higher res video on it, you can play higher res games on it. It will just look much better, that's it.

Also I can see the desire for wanting a bigger screen... but iPhone is already a little too chubby for a phone.

The funny thing about all of that is I started the N1 thread, I was an advocate for HTC and Google (as I still love aspects of Android) but I would hardly go to say that I've trolled HTC/Google in a major way other than my "opinion" that the N1 is a failed piece of hardware.

Early adopters issues aside, it wasn't ready for prime time. People over in the thread have had decent success with the phone and it's target audience is a lot larger now than they are finally on AT&T... but again, since I know you own one... You don't have to justify your purchase to me.

What surprises me is with all of the smartphones coming out in the next 3-6 months that the N1 is even still a consideration w/ the new Droid phone, new iPhone and eventually the Evo. I'm simply giving my input (read that as "opinion" ) to those even considering.

But telling me to "shut the fuck up" about my opinion of my ownership of the phone... that's not going to change my experience with it.

It's a nice looking phone.
It's crazy how these sort of things happen to end up in the hands of someone who knows what they are looking at. If I would have found it, I wouldn't have been able to tell that it's a device that hasn't been released yet.

Ever heard of a little something called e-peen? Higher rez will help with that.

wow @ leak and wow @ the page views on the story OVER 2 MILLION !!!!!! on 1 story that is insane...... :lol :lol

Looks great this will be my first iphone when it comes out

Looks good to me, but gonna have to wait until october when my att contract turns 1 year old to see if I qualify for early upgrade.

If we can take the story at face value.. It's not too far fetched.

If you found an iPhone at a club, either you'd poke around in it to see which one it was, or you'd ask someone who knew what they were talking about (and it's an iPhone... 75% of people know a little bit about them)

Once you found out it wasn't the usual iPhone.. who would you call? Probably a news group specializing in tech gadgets.

I'm glad you have backpeddled from your clear anger over Google/HTC from your last post.

Your question about why to buy an N1 now is kind of odd given you are well aware the stats are better than the Droid and identical to the Incredible/Desire. The simple answer is the same it has been since Google decided to release a phone. Google will always release updates for the N1 before any other Android device even sniffs a new version, and in many cases we are talking 3-6 months or longer to get said update.

As for the Evo or the iPhone, the same rules apply as they always have when selecting a phone. You are comparing apples to oranges there. At this point, it's either you want an iPhone, N1/Desire/Incredible, or an Evo (between the choices you listed). The three camps are separate enough in features, size, etc that making a decision is just as personal as picking which TV you like. The tech is all cutting edge, so it comes down to what you like.

indeed. even if they never get invited to another Apple event, it was well worth it.

I still think it was a controlled leak. What are the odds of the person finding this phone...being someone who reads gizmodo or engadget... I mean phones are found EVERYDAY. Odds are someone would just find it and say oh cool a phone and think nothing of it.

Oh I'm not saying it would look bad, but it is going to suffer from the same issue people have when discussing viewing distance/resolution on TVs. I'm not sure the breaking point on devices like that, but it will be interesting to see if 3.2 or 3.7 at that resolution is the breaking point.

Next time you're in a Best Buy or whatever, check out the LCD screens on the back of a high end ($2000+) DSLR camera.

the HDTV remark in response to your post was right on the mark. The iphone DPI is currently nowhere near being overkill for that size screen. quadrupling the pixel density will still create a significantly better looking phone. it means that all existing apps will look normal, and future apps that take advantage of the higher resolution will just look that much better (no doubtedly apple's own software such as iBook being the first and most apparent).

Normal people aren't going to think about the resolution.. but they will notice it. It's just gonna look so sharp and lifelike. With really cool graphic design I think it will be a treat for the eyes.

Backpedaled? Maybe used better phrasing? I still think the N1 is garbage and that opinion isn't going to change anytime soon. My point is if the hardware is the same between the other versions of the phone, why pick the inferior product?

I can't wait until the press conference when Steve comes out and throws the phone at the audience and says "$299- chow down fuckers!" then walks off stage.

It will be the most un-Apple-like conference ever and Apple fanboys will praise Steve for his new riskque, avante-garde presentation style.

Right, but is it overkill for the size? Time will only tell. I'm sure Apple has thought all this through, but it's fun to talk about till they announce it. Using friends' ipods/iphones and going to my N1, I cant imagine using a device with a 3.2" screen anymore, but I'm intrigued to see if that opinion is based purely on size/resolution and how independent or dependent those factors are in how you view the screen.

Yes, better phrasing, until you got to the point where you said it was inferior. It isn't. The specs are still top notch, and the difference between Sense and Google Experience is all in how you see the product. You got to stop mixing facts with opinion. You may not like the N1 compared to say the Desire or Incredible, but inferior? no.
