What an amazing game! From the beginning to the end, it was a beautiful cocktail of artwork, orchestral symphony, intriguing story, cool characters, and some awesome gameplay. As a fan of Greek Mythology, I really appreciate the fact that this game managed to showcase the lore like no book or movie has ever done. Aries is a freakin badass. I can't say enough good things about this. The story telling was well done. In many ways it reminds me of Resident Evil 4 because of the slow pacinh, but every little morsal was awesome when it came. Biggest difference is that this game actually concludes the story unlike Resident Evil 4. The gameplay innovations during combat, and the versatility of the engine were very awesome to experience in the almost formulaic 3D action genre.

If only The Legacy of Kain could have been worked into this formula for a true 3D experience.

This game walks all over Devil May Cry 3. It officially rests in the top three games I have played this generation with Resident Evil 4 and Metal Gear Solid 3.
 
I just started playing and am having a blast with it. Sure its a button masher for the most part, but the presentation is fantastic! I just love how you can rip bodies into half or pluck the wings of the Harpis, hehehe. The boss fights are nice too with all that cinematic camera angles.

This is what Castlevania should have been. I'm afraid no Castlevania can top this game...unless they let the GoW dev team do it ;-)
 
I completed it today, and all I've got is two words...

lots of average gamers like GOW more, and it undoubtedly will sell alot more than DMC3

What the hell is an average gamer...
The strength of DMC games is in quality and complexity of their combat. Combat mechanics are not the only thing that defines the action adventure games, and in many other defining features GoW is way ahead of any DMC game.
 
The problem with GoW is it doesn't get really good until you're about 5 hours into the game. At that time, you're about 50-60% complete with the game, and there's not much left to do.

Games like NG, DMC3, and RE4, on the other hand, are awesome from beginning to end.

I think you'll find that most people, at least here, don't feel the same way. First part of the game was certainly one of it's peaks, IMO.
 
GoW was pure awesomeness until the last couple of hours.
 
It's a good game. Not very original, though, and it will be forgotten when high-budget Devil May Cry Clone X comes out for a next-gen system.
 
Devil May Cry and Ninja Gaiden are elitist games that will be remembered by the elitist gamers. God of War will be remembered by casual gamers.
 
..... forgot about that game, got 6 hours in and lost interest .....

Should go back and finish it, it's in the pile....

I just couldn't take the insulting hair-band/McFarlaine style art-direction ---- No respect to good mythology...

still, good action game directed toward casuals (not easy to do..)
 
Not played GOW but looking forward to it, can't both games be awesome?

DMC was amazing for its cut scenes alone :D some of the best I ever saw with nice pacing to the entire thing.

Exactly.

I've beaten Ninja Gaiden, and frankly I already got sick of elitist games. One is enough already, damn it!

I just feel casual these days with gaming...so God of War it is I play.
 
i agree. dmc3 was a bore. i just played it to finish it it didnt really hold my interest.

I think a heavily scratched God of War DVD would suffice.
 
GoW is a great game, but I thought the battle system was just okay. I like DMC's style of fighting much more than GoW's, which reminds me of Rygar.

That's the same thought I had when I first played it. Cvania done in that style might have been even cooler IMO because I dig the whole classic horror theme more than Greek mythology one. GOW is very, very cool though. Just a highly enjoyable game.

I also love God of War, I think the game is awesome in so many respect. When I started playing the game I just couldn't stop - it kickass, it rules, its HOT!!!! BUT ITS NO DMC3 BEATER DAMMIT!

so i pick up GoW on the way home and....

wow, what a fucking game. its almost too much, definitely the best game i have played since Snake Eater, and i find myself playing everything.

i have just finished the hydra battle, banged the birds with the big cans.
and now, back to the fry.

and yes, it does indeed seem to be a better game than DMC....

I don't even think DMC is that great. I just like the way Ninja Gaiden controls, and the moves feel like they have more impact compared to GoW.
