Is there any easy way of tracking when certain games go on sale? I'm looking for ether one and broken age, and I'm tired of waiting on them with the steam sale.

all this sale I have this problem that gog stops showing owned flags near games. Anybody else experiencing this?
refreshing doesn't help, btw

I've only noticed this when there are a lot of deals on the screen like now (36 games) and back when they had all of their bundles up at once. When they had the two bundles for sale and only several of the flash deals it was fine.

I kind of hoping that some day GOG will add the Crystal Dynamics Tomb Raiders(legend, anni, underworld) to their store. I'm also eagerly awaiting the day they add NOLF 1&2.

Have you tried isthereanydeal.com? That's what I use. You can import your Steam wish list and it tracks prices on a bunch of different sites. It sends you an email when the price drops to whatever amount you choose.

For people who already own all the games in a given franchise bundle, does buying gift copies of individual games from that bundle still apply the highest discount?

I am not 100% on gift codes and multiple copies. Did you try by going to check out?

Shovel Knight is now out on GOG, |OT| here.

Finally a good game is released, something that will definitely make the cut when I gather up some impression quotes. It's one of the most charming retro games released this year, incredible music, great graphics, and just an all around fun game that really impresses people on all the platforms it is out for going by the impressions in the OT. Main faults seem to be it's a little easy until NG+ (for some people, especially if you abuse certain abilities), but that's a rather minor issue overall. Definitely one to put on the short list you even remotely think it looks interesting.

3 dolla for drm free version is wonderful times

Yes, too good to pass up if you don't own it, basically. Felt I had to rebuy myself despite owning it on Steam (drm-damaged version). Btw, this flash sale will only be available for slightly less than an hour at this point, so hurry and buy if you want the game.

Another slow week, just one new release, Shovel Knight, though it's got quite a bit of good impressions going for it already. Normally it takes more than a day or two to get good impressions on new releases, but I'm pretty satisfied with the sampling I have above. I've talked about it already a little so on to the next set of games making the list.

Caesar 3 is second, and we might as well introduce the third and fourth additions to the list as well, since they're all very similar games. Pharaoh + Cleopatra and Zeus + Poseidon along with Caesar 3 make up three of the most popular titles from Impressions Games, all very deep and addicting simulation games where you set out to build a thriving city. Fairly unique and highly regarded (more so than their pseudo-sequels), they make the list fairly easily, and the widescreen / high-res mods don't hurt either.

As for what didn't make the cut, only one game to mention, revisited Lifeless Planet a few weeks later and it still has not gotten enough impressions.

Short of any surprise Monday releases (I think Divinity: Original Sin is supposed to come out that day actually), that will just about wrap up this thread! We're also now up to 106 recommended games for the list, just halfway through the year!

I'm a bit surprised that Emperor: Rise of the Middle Kingdom isn't on GOG. That's the one I used to play; bought it in a Sam's Club bundle with Caesar III and Zeus/Poseidon.

From what I remember, it felt like the most polished out of the series. Obviously, it helps if you have an interest in Chinese history, as the campaign scenarios span from the Xia Dynasty to the Song-Jin Dynasty.

Now that you mention it, I did see Emperor mentioned a few times while searching for impressions of all the others, but I didn't make the connection. Still strange it didn't get many nods in the sense when people talked about Impression Games they more often would mention one of the three above (maybe due to the fact you could buy those three but not Emperor), but I did notice a couple people throw Emperor around.

I don't own all of the games in either of the bundles I want - I was hoping that I could pick up a couple of games for 75% or 80% off from people who are already eligible for the maximum discount.

It appears there's some unrest brewing over the release of Divinity: Original Sin.

GOG made a thread announcing the game would be coming later today, then a few hours later edited in that the release is scheduled for August 31 to coincide with the launch of the Galaxy client for multiplayer support.

However, it would seem strange for the game to be unavailable on GOG for 2 months, and it's not clear if that date refers to Galaxy multiplayer support only or the entire game.

Either way, pretty bad communication by Larian and GOG.

edit - clarification here.

Look, guys - I don't know how to put it simpler to leave no room for confusion. The game will be available to KS backers for now, but without the online multiplayer component. The full public GOG.com release is planned for August 31, as our online platform GOG Galaxy should be up to support it by then.

I'm not sure about the Sunday thing. May wait for Monday, September 1st, or go with Friday, August 29. For all we know, Sunday release is also a possibility.

That's weird. It seems I can play the Steam version without Steam and direct ip connect for multiplayer online. Why can't they release that version?

It is weird, and they certainly could release it, as they are releasing it, just to KS backers. Strange indeed.

Leave it to GOG to find a way to give everyone a reason to hate GOG Galaxy before there should be any! Now the primarily function of GOG Galaxy is seemingly to delay releases for entirely optional connectivity, that many of the potential buyers may very well have had no interest in in the first place.

Yea, that seems to be the crux of what might be the fallout here - a game's public release delayed because of an optional client. I don't know how much of that decision might have come from Larian, though, and I don't think GOG would throw them under the bus if it were the case.

Either way, I can't fathom why anybody at GOG would think it's a good idea to miss out on sales for two months and watch people buy the game from a competitor. I don't think they do, and maybe Larian decided they only want KS backers to have the DRM-free game until GOG's Galaxy client is ready for a public release. Just speculation on my part.

edit (I like edits) - apparently the Steam version also is DRM-free, so now I'm really scratching my head.

So here's the dillio.
Remember when GOG were offering the Fallout trilogy for free?
I decided to gift a code of it to my brother's e-mail, at the time to let him have something to play on his laptop. Apparently he has no interest so I had him send the gift e-mail back to me.
Now I don't know if the link can actually work, but here it is, just quote this post and try to redeem it

For some reason they don't have Caesar I or II either. Caesar I I haven't actually played, but Caesar II will always be one of my favorite Impressions games ever! It's a great classic, even if back then I did usually end up as a galley slave. :p

Also, while the games aren't that good really, it'd be amusing to see the two Cohort games (the first of which had a US release as Fighting For Rome) too. They're very early '90s, which for strategy games means horrible interfaces, but the game was fun back then... and of course while I don't have either game myself Cohort II can attach to Caesar I as its battle system, which is a nice feature. It's really too bad that after Caesar II (which has a built-in battle system of course) Impressions decided to abandon the overworld map and real battles, those in-city battles in the games afterwards aren't anywhere remotely near as interesting or strategic.

GOG

They disabled all those codes, If I remember correctly they had to do it for a legal reason.
