Going to get a 1st party GC 1019 memory card:any concerns about this product?

So the madcatz 251 memory card I have got corrupted and I lost my save game in Metroid Prime, SMS, MP2, MK:DD and others...

I am now going to turn to a 1st party memory card and was thinking about the 1019 but I seem to remember this product has some compatibility issues??

Most of my games consist of Nintendo 1st and 2nd party titles but I also have Twin Snakes (I *guess* you could call that a Konami game) RE4, Alien Hominid, Joe 1&2, Soul Cali 2 and I plan on getting NBA Street 3....

Any caviats with this card?

What about the 251 instead?

I haven't had problems with my 251 yet, had it when the 59 just wouldn't cut it anymore. Now I use the 59 for imported games.

I think the price difference between 251 and 1019 is small, so the 1019 would be the obvious choice. Regardless, I bet you could live with a 251 for the rest of the 'Cube's life unless you like sports games and take pics in Smash Bros :lol

1019 also has quicker data speed. Get the 2038 if you own more than 60 games. I have 60+ games on my 1019. Its about to run out.

Hope that helps. I have a 251 and it's almost completely full with 18 games, for $10 US more you get 4X the space. BTW have you ever thought about getting a USB memory card so you can keep backups of your saves on your PC or download saves on some websites? Anyone have any experience with them?

I've had no problem saving imported games and north american games on the same memory card..

I just bought a 1019 card this past weekend :-) I haven't had any serious problems with it though I was unable to transfer my F-Zero GC game data from my 251, but I think that's a problem with the 251 card and not the 1019 card (everything else transfered just fine from my other 1st party memory cards). At last, I now have all 3 1st party memory cards: grey (59), black (251) and white (1019)! Lucky me! :-p Next up in accessory purchases is a GC Gameboy Player :-)

There are a few games that don't let you move or copy the save files, F-Zero GX is one of those games.

Why did Sega do that with F-Zero GX? Did it have something to do with its connection to the arcade version? Oh well, doesn't matter. I'll just leave the 251 as my dedicated F-Zero GX mem card :-)

I think it actually had to do with cheating. The same reason for the PSO I&II save file.

They did it so you couldn't cheat when they were doing that competition thing (where you'd get a code and you'd put it in nintendo.com). However, people just ended up using the snaking bug to demolish previous records that were meant to be nearly unbeatable. So it ended up just being an annoyance.

Didn't someone come up with a way to copy the save by swapping memory cards midplay?

If you're using a Freeloader you can save both on the same card. But if you have a switch mod, you have to use seperate cards.

exactly, and I have a switch mod. (Thank you Lik-sang)

I use my 251 for uh, everything, and my 59 for basically nothing, now. I think it has some Zelda saves from that compilation disc, but other than that it's just extra storage I'll probably never use.

And I would never ever buy a third party memory card.

Damn, I've got almost 90 Cube games and still haven't run out of room on my 1019 1st party. I used to have an Interact 1019 and it was great, used it for about 2 years without a problem. Felt like getting a card to use as a backup so I got the 1019 from Nintendo, copied everything (except for Sega games, f-ckers) to the Nintendo one, and now I use the trusty Interact one as my backup.

Ninety Gamecube games? Do you have ADD?

I'd actually recommend a "GameShark GameSaves" first...

Yes, it's a generic 1019 block card. However, it's a USB card, allowing you to easily back up all game saves. I've had two for a year or so, and while I have had the occasional glitch [the GameCube refuses to read the card], I've been able to read the files to my PC, reformat the card, then drop the files back on. It's great for archiving saves... JUST IN CASE something ever goes wrong.

My only fear with the 1019 is that the PSO/BBA mem card utility won't work with it.

The 1019 is fantastic, buy it immediately. It must be a big hit with the 3 guys who are playing Madden franchises on Cube.

It certainly is! I'm in the 2010 season and still going strong with the Steelers.

Anyway, third party cards are too unreliable. Nearly every Interact card my friend has ever had crapped out on him at one point or another.
