So far we have decided we'll be geeks and hit the Star Trek Experience... we've got a suite at the Venetian and they are having an Egyptian exhibit from the Guggenheim so we'll be hitting that.... I'm thinking of maybe doing Madame Tussauds Las Vegas.... oh yeah DEFINITELY (HUGE Oceans 11 fan) want to go see the Bellagio fountains, any other suggetions?

Darien,

I am usually in Vegas at 2-3x a year, and I have hit the following shows. I will rate them on how good they were:

Cirque Du Soeil (sp?) O (Bellagio) ****
The Blue Man Group (Luxor) ***1/2
Danny Gans (The Mirage) *****

Those were some of the best shows I ever saw.

The fountains are amazing at the Bellagio. I also hear that the new Cirque show at the MGM, which is called KA, is AMAZING!!!

If you want info on any of the other shows in vegas or to see which headliners are going to be there, check out www.lasvegas.com or www.vegas.com

I would suggest getting the tickets ASAP, as I know shows like Danny Gans sells out 6mos in advance. So get on it.

I went in the fall of '03.

'O' at the Bellagio - A+ GO SEE IT.

Amazing Jonathon at Flamingo - B Excellent, even my wife liked it.

Blue Man Group at Luxor - C+ I found it to be a bit overpriced. It was ok.

I was hoping to catch a concert or a few other shows, but there wasn't much going on that week. Don't waste your time with the "free" shows (like 'Bottom's Up') or the Showgirls one at the Flamingo. We went and it's not worth your time.

You might want to look into visiting Hoover Dam. It's a nice change of pace. Also, hit up the light show in old Downtown (take a bus, save money).

You're never going to see it all .. so don't kill yourself trying to cram everything in.

Thanks for the suggestions, yeah we know we won't see everything this trip we just want to hit a few of the highlights... this missus has been there before but this is my first time... and of course she'll want to do some gambling... right... some... but I'm sure we'll have a great time.

Wow. Me and the wife and kid are also going to be there next week. Not the weekend though, Tues-Fri.

Darien, don't you have a newborn baby? If so, is the baby going with you? We have a 1 yr old and she's coming with us, so I doubt we will be able to do any shows.

I'll give you the same advice I gave the last guy, give me $50 and I'll give you and your wife a show you'll never forget.

Free drink!

Nyah she's(4 mos old now) going to down Hampton, VA to stay with my mom and sisters for the week(even though we'll only be gone for the weekend. My mom has seen her a few times and my sisters less so they complained that I was gonna have mom come up and get to see her while they don't get to see her that often... so I agreed to let them have her all week. That's gonna be the LONGEST week of work I've had in a long time.. the missus was like... and we'll be down there bright and early Saturday! :lol :lol :lol

1. Go book tickets for O.
2. Hope you get seated next to a quiet bunch.
3. Be amazed.
4. Come tell us about it here.

Their other show, Mysteer, was also great, but O is better so if you only want to see 1 cirque du soleil show let it be O.

Smegging smeg of a smeg!
Penn and Teller are in town. Danny Gans is supposed to be great, as is their local Blue Man Group.

I actually preferred Mystere at Treasure Island to "O", but that's probably only because Mystere was my first Cirque du Soleil show. Regardless of which one you go to (if any), buy the soundtrack :).

Yeah man the soundtracks are beauty! They are both great, but I liked O's ST more as well because it felt more original while also taking from world instruments. Mystere's music had more (electric?) guitar IIRC so you might like that more if you are into that.

O also had an edge I thought in that it had those breathtaking water acrobatics :). And the characters emphacized the fantasy setting well.

Are Siegfried and Roy performing again? If they are the show is REALLY good (although expensive). It's worth seeing if you don't go to Vegas often.
