As we're approaching the GOTY season, first outlets are starting to collect public votes.

I haven't played it but I've heard good things but mass effect doesn't even need to be there imo. The pc version with mods did a much better job than this legendary edition
 
Returnal is a 6,5 game, but is better that some of those games.

On that list I think RE village is my goty.

I tried voting but it's almost impossible with so many ads on the screen.
 
Why do people crave so much for stupid GOTY awards? They are as useful as a poopy flavored lolly pop. You love Returnal? Good, then that's all you should care about and not what other people like.

Proxy vote by choosing the worst game on the list. Then when it wins they'll them you were voting for returnal instead.

If those are the choices then I would give it to RE Village. VIII made me like Ethan and feel something during its conclusion. R&C was nothing special. I've yet to play Psychonauts 2 but I'm sure its a good game. This is the only GOTY award I acknowledge since its voted by the people.

I sound like a broken record every time i see any sort of games list and this confirms it ...again: If these were the games I HAD to play, I would be looking for another hobby.
 
Will FH5 and Halo Infinite be eligible (obviously depending on if they are good)...

Public voting GOTY seems like it heavily skews to the games that releases on console that has sold the most.
 
Mass Effect Legendary Edition is still my choice for GOTY, but I'm about half way through with Psychonauts 2 and loving that game as well.

Most GOTY awards take place before January and the timeframe extends into the previous year. Such is the case with the Golden Joystick.

To be eligible for nomination, a game must have been released between Nov 20th, 2020 (when last year's Ultimate Game of the Year vote closed) and the present day. In exceptional cases, upcoming games that are due be released during the Golden Joystick Awards' voting window, from Tuesday Oct 19 to Friday November 5th, will be considered by our judges for addition to the voting shortlists after they have been released, reviewed and debated. Games released after public voting closes on Nov 5th, but before the show is broadcast on Nov 23, will be eligible for our Critics' Choice award, selected by our panel of judges.

I like the list overall. I am super happy It takes Two is on there. That game is one of the best games I have played in the last five years easily. I am shocked that Death's Door is not on the list though. That is one of the better games of the year and got 9.0 across the board. And it is exclusive to the Xbox platforms. But yeah , Returnal should have been on the list as well.

The "game of the year 2021" might have released in November of 2020? What sort of stupid shit is that?
That's just another reason why most online awards are worthless.

The only ones that get any sort of real buzz are the Dorito Pope ones, and even those are basically an afterthought to the trailers and announcements they show during the event.
 
I think the saving debacle hurt it.

Out of the list here I would choose either Psychnauts 2 or Metroid Dread. I haven't finished the latter, but they're both excellent games. Will be a tough call.

"Stupid shit" or not, that is the way it is every year for the vast majority of game awards.
 
They need to add an accessibility menu with cheats so people can finish the game. What's taking so long to update the game and relaunch it?

They can disable achievements too so hardcore gamers can keep their erections 🤷

At that point why not just watch a video of the cutscenes on youtube? There's videos dissecting/interpreting the story just like the souls series.
 
What a bitter and awful subtitle for this OP.

Nobody cares about the Golden Joysticks, previous years they've had to give away shit to get people to vote on them.

This has been a really bad year in gaming though.
 
Returnal 100% deserves to be on the list, but if they didn't like it, fair enough.

I'm playing through REVIII right now. It's beautiful, the atmosphere/aesthetic et cetera is all my jam, but isn't it a tad boring? You just turn around and shoot almost randomly at something that fills your entire screen. With little enjoyment as you lose what little amount of scraps you had found before.

I almost wish they'd get rid of shooty-shooty and replaced it with some other engaging mechanic. I like walking around, gaping and discovering pieces of lore. I guess I just dont get resident evil.
