I'm wanting to start trying to learn some languages. Basically, just to test myself since I did awful in my language classes in high school and felt like I had no aptitude for it, but I'd like to be able to learn at least some of a few languages - mainly Spanish and French - and prove myself wrong.
However, I plan to start with Spanish because that's what I took 3 years of in high school - and remember very little of nowadays, but since it's buried in my brain somewhere I figure it's probably the best to start out with.
I was looking at the "Instant Immersion Spanish Deluxe" 8-CD software since it has voice recognition stuff and 3 of the CDs are audio so I could take them in the car. Most stuff I've read also suggests getting a book for getting the grammar down, anyone have any suggestions on that.
So basically, what do people recommend in terms of either software, audio-CD courses, or books for learning either Spanish or French. Obviously, I don't want to break the bank either, so unless there's absolutely no substitute, the $300 course packages that I've seen seem a bit overkill right now.
Thanks guys!
