Well, today's subway adventure was quite interesting...
It started off with me arriving at 179th street and waiting for a Manhattan bound F train. Across the platform an out of service F pulled in, and a conductor had to root a homeless man out of the train before it pulled into the yard. Confused, he got off, and then stayed on the platform and waited for the next out of service train, where he stepped in, heard a loud annoucement saying "LAST STOP THIS TRAIN IS NO LONGER IN SERVICE," and stumbled back out.
On my side of the platform an F pulled in, and in my car was not only the confused homeless man from across the platform, but another homeless man who was already there, making a trip in from the yards, and this elderly Chinese man with the whole right side of his face burnt. Yeah, this was going to be a great day.
Coming home, leaving 179th street, there was yet another homeless man, middle aged and black, with a shopping cart kind of wheeler that old people use to bring groceries home, only his was packed with all sorts of stuff, including a large white plastic chair hanging off the side, along with all his other belongings.
Apparently the wheel had fallen off his ... well, house, and he was asking people for help, yet they all walked past him, ignoring him. I decided to intervene, and he held the walker up while I bent down and slid the wheel back on. After that, he asked me if I could help pull up his pants, and it was then that I noticed, after walking around him, that half his ass was showing since his pants were falling down. I gave him a pack of "Grandma's Cookies" I had in my bag from the deli, and he said god bless and I was on my way.
So, does it end there? No, not at all. I'm waiting for the Q36 and as happens every Saturday, across from the stop this guy is selling bootleg movies. Only this time, a blue van rolled up with two undercover cops who arrested him, and then went into the store and fined the owner.
Good times... good times...
