I can confirm. I had something similar. Google told me I had to enter my age to comply with the law. It allowed me to just enter my date of birth. Google just must not trust you :messenger_tears_of_joy:

I was watching YouTube and a pop up came out "to view this video need to verify your age"

When you press "verify" there's only two ways, insert your credit card details or send a photo of your id card

Link us to the video then.

i just type the letters "nsfw" in front of "youtube" in the address bar. There's some circumventing website. I never browse yt logged in nor do I use the app because fuck yt ads. Last time I had my niece watching cartoon episodes on TV, some 40 minute long "commercial" came in. Wtf?

There are millions of whiny 5-year olds on Earth, and I AM THEIR KING.
Are you guys living in Europe? Probably some new regulation for your own safety citizen. KEKE

I've had this pop up too. Sent a copy of my ID with any important information blocked (like social security number) and it was accepted within a day. It's ridiculous, all I wanted was to watch the Subverse launch trailer 😜

i've been getting this a lot recently too (UK). i only have a google account for youtube. they ain't getting my driving license/passport.

Just blur out the important stuff. That's how I did it. Was through in minutes.
did that really work?

and by important stuff do you mean the face as well? :messenger_grinning_smiling:

I'm retarded?
Yes sadly, it's being slowly implemented on every user at least in Europe. I gave them the data. Spy me corporate overlords, control my life, I don't care. I already work for corporates so might as well go all in.

It says in the process what is needed.
If I remember correctly I blurred out everything except my name and date of birth.
i'll try it again and do that. they already have my name + dob so if they want a photo of it on a card with everything else blurred out that's not bad.

edit: it worked! i pixelated my face, smudged it a bit, and blurred it. also pixelated/blurred my driving license number, signature, and address. the only clear thing on it is my name, date of birth, and my country. google already has that so they ain't got anything new from me.

Happened to me too. I tried to watch a video of some people getting shot on Youtube. The age verification asked me to give Credit Card details....... Fuck that.

And yes, this is official Youtube.

I wonder how Google will verify if the IDs are real?

they will probably have images of different driving licenese/passports from around the world to compare them to. also it's not hard to read text in images to get the data. just extract that and compare to what they have on record.

as for credit cards that's easy enough. just make sure the name matches and check to see if the transaction goes through kinda like how you get a verification transaction if you use your card to buy petrol. (although i'm not sure if they actually charge your account).

You think Google doesn't know your face already? And almost everything else about your life? Not saying it's right, but in this case all they need is an official document with your name and date of birth. You can mask everything else.

FaceBook did this to my account, which is very old and I haven’t been to in easily a decade, to verify my name.
They may be disappointed to learn that my name is not Milton Bradley. 😎

unless google has went to the UK government they don't have my face. i don't even have any photos of me except what's on my driving license/passport. i don't post on social media or take selfies of myself. i avoid getting my photo took unless absolutely necessary. if there is a photo of me on the internet it's from like 15 years ago when i had hair.

What? People are actually dumb enough to do this?
