Google Drive app for PC and Mac is being shut down in March, new app taking its place

I have Plex (and Plex Pass) but the Cloud Server is incredibly buggy. Whenever I try to watch something I almost always end up spending more time futzing with the server getting it to work than I do watching the video.
This. I love Plex, but it’s buggy as hell. I’ve got friends that I let share my Plex account and we’re always having problems accessing my media. If Plex’s interface wasn’t so awesome, and I didn’t have 4TB of movies, I’d use a new google solution in a heartbeat.

Is there any benefit or big change with the new app, because this just seems like shitty decision making all around.

Not unknown to Google but gotta ask anyway.

It is more or less same thing but now you dont have to have all files in a drive folder, instead you can just choose any folder you want to be online. As far as I know drive itself (the webapp) will still be availavle.

But the service itself is still called Google Drive? Seems needlessly confusing to me. Or does Backup and Sync work with other services than Google Drive?

I hope it doesn't suck. I've had no problems with drive on PC. Just draggin stuff to a folder and it gets uploaded it great.
