Perfect analogy for me

This isn't really that amazing when you consider what can already be done in a browser. It's basically a nicer native presentation of a web page.

Why would I want to open the buzzfeed app when the buzzfeed website should work on my phone?

Ugh google not like this
Yeah, I feel like this is going to be the next evolution of those annoying banners on websites urging you to view this page in their app.

Here is google AMP - loading pages 4x faster, using 10x less data.

Here is Google Instant Apps. Load a webpage but actually loads bits of apps using 10x the data.

It is cool though, especially for those apps you don't use often so you don't bother installing them. Good for the app developers and the experience could be better for consumers so it could improve their image of the associated brands.

Really, really, really cool. And I say that as an iPhone guy that doesn't care for Android.

The mobile payments one is the biggest one, especially for the parking scenario they just showed.

"I don't have time to download the parking app!"

Such a Sillicon Valley problem.

there are tons of situations where an app is the best way to interact with something, but you can't be bothered to go and find the app and install it, because you don't use it that often.

And I bet nearly half the car parks in the UK have the ability to pay via phone app, so it isn't just a fancy silicon valley thing.
