Got a DS, need a game

Yep, the guy who bashes Nintendo constantly got a $100 DS in mint condition (owner only played it a couple of times). Money is low right now so I need only one game. I was thinking either Advance Wars Dual Strike or Phoenix Wright. Length is rather important here but so is fun.

I've read reviews on both and they seem like solid games. So input would be nice, especially to see if it withstands the test of time.

Also, please no recommendations of Metroidvania.

Thank you.

This is upsetting, anyway Awars is going to stand the test of time and if you liked the past iterations its a given that it will be good. I haven't heard much on the length of phoenix wright, but also haven't heard a negative impression. You're probably pretty safe either way, I'm currently weighing up the exact same decision and I think I'm gonna go with Awars, cause it's proven and will have more hours in it that I can probably give it.

It doesn't get much more lengthy than Advance Wars DS. There's so much to do in the game you could easily spend a thousand hours with it.

I'd say Castlevania, but otherwise you just NEED Advance Wars DS.

If only for the multiplayer mode on one DS.
(and it has got big booms)

I haven't 100% completed them all yet, but for a combination of excellent gaming and longevity, I'd say...

01 Advance Wars: Dual Strike
02 Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
03 Kirby: Canvas Curse
04 Super Mario 64 DS
05 Zoo Keeper

Zoo keeper probably isn't the best game to recommend to a self confessed constant nintendo troll.

Zoo Keeper is available at best by for $10. My local store had a million of em.

Though I prefer Puyo Pop Fever (my favorite DS game by far).

My DS is charging to my right at this very moment, and I also don't have any games. However, I'm going to have to wait until Christmas for the bulk of them. I would love to pick up a game right now, but I don't think I'm going to have the money to do so.

That said, I'd go with Advance Wars as they're the same price...there's a $29.99 CDN price on Pheonix Wright on Amazon.ca that's tempting me in its direction.

Mr. Wright just called and said buy his game b***h!!

The wait for online mario kart battle mode has been way too long. I hereby proclaim that Mario Kart DS WILL be the best game ever made. You can not argue with my facts. It's true.... I will make sweet love to my DS when this launches. SWEEET SWEET LOOOOVE!!

WTF?!!! NOOOO!! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

I HATE YOU NINTENDO!!! DO YOU HEAR ME?!!! I HAAAAATE YOU!!!!! >_<

OMFG. WHY>???!! YOU HAVE BROKEN MY HEART FOR THE LAST TIME!!! =_(

Advance Wars and Castlevania, and you'll be good on franchise-fun for months...

If you're wanting to go pure DS --- Truama Center is way fun and challenging, Ace Atourney of course, Nintendogs, Lost in Blizzle, etc., etc....... As far as new releases go, you're in the clear to close your eyes and pick whatever - for the most part they've been extremely worth the $29

That was mean, but it had to be done sometime.

I think I've played battle mode in MKDD maybe Twice, and I honestly probably wouldn't play it online that much. I'll probably have some LAN battles, though.

There is no question that it would be nice, though.

Because DS does what Sony wants?

ONE Handheld future!!!

Anyway, I say get ASdvance Wars DS, I've logged over 50 hours into the game without releasing it. I almost **** when I looked at my playtime in history.

It always just blows my mind that someone could venomously troll Nintendo for months and then just do an about face and buy their product... :lol

I'm hurting so bad right now. Someone hold me. =_(

*edit* can I have an address to mailbomb Nintendo? I must get my revenge. You guys don't know the history behind my anger.

Well, I won't say anything as I praised the DS for months... and also bought a PSP 3 months ago. The good news is that now I have the PSP, I can still say I prefer the DS and its library, and be honest with you.

Well then you're pretty much fucked, unless you like virtual pets, have a large GBA library or are willing to wait about 2-3 months for newer, better DS releases.

I hated the GBA Castlevanias. I'm assuming the DS version is more of the same, but with a touchscreen and better graphics. Maybe if they make a game like Dracula X or Super Castlevania 4, I'd be on it.

Looks like its Advance Wars DS. I'll probably pick up Phoenix Wright later down the road. The costs of college is ridiculous and it won't get better until next semester.

I don't want Trauma Center because its hard to steady my hand. I don't want Lost in Blue either. What I've read about it (which is a good amount), I don't like about it.

I'd still have my PSP but it worn out my eyes and gave me back trouble. DS does neither. I want portable gaming.

my buddy claims almost this EXACT SAME THING!! weird. he loves the PSP but can't buy one because playing it for more than 10 minutes starts cramping up his hands. he has no problems with the GB/C/A/SP/DS. ironically he really does love the PSP.

Get Phoenix Wright first if you like adventure games at all. It needs the sales for possible sequels to come over.

Get AWDS as soon as you have the cash to get a second game. Best game on the DS bar none. (Castlevania is most definitely 2nd though)

I get horrible cramp from PSP I think cause you have to bend ya fingers, my ds no problems except I get pins n needles if I play lying down on my back for longer than 20 minutes.

Sounds like me after about 45 minutes. I get this numb, tingling feeling my back and my eyes get worn out. I always felt like I had to take a nap after playing because my eyes were so tired. My eyes were more red than white the first week of playing it. I have no idea what caused this but I can't go back to PSP ever.
