Well that's a relief. I'm sitting in the airport lounge now after sweating it out with a U.S. customs officer asking me 20 questions as to why I'm traveling down to the U.S. to work for the next 2 days. Had to apply for a TN Visa (first time doing so) and they were treating me like I was the first person to ever go through this process. Thankfully I gave myself plenty of time for my flight and I'm currently relaxing with a beer in hand as I write this.

Hello GAF, Manics is going to Boston for 2 days!

When I was in the Carribean, I brought a SHITLOAD of stuff back through customs. If you look American (and those who have seen me attest that I do, including my Nats jersey and Wizards hat!), I swear, those customs guys don't give a shit.

Yeah but when you go down on business, you have to get a TN visa. I didn't have one before so I had to apply for it. Basically I had to bring my resume, my university degree, my school transcripts, a letter of introduction...it went on and on. Then the guy takes you into a room and starts asking you questions trying to trip you up. I'm glad it's over.

What country are you coming from?

All the time, when I come back from travelling, I've been asked shit loads of questions, and I've been told I look like a terrorist. :(

I should have used the sure-fire way to get through uncontested. Just tell the customs officer "I post on GAF"

Can't you tell them that you're going down there for vacation and bypass the whole list?

Whenever I'm in Canada, I'm always there "on vacation."

Yeah, this seems pretty much true. When I returned from Japan, they had seperate line ups for citizens, visitors, and permanent residents. I got in the permanent resident line, and I noticed that it took more than twice as long for the Thai and Middle Eastern permanent residents in front of me to get through, and they got asked a hell of a lot more questions. (I'm a white Canadian... and obviously my native language is English.) The guy even said "welcome home" to me when I was released, something he didn't do to the others before me.

I'm a shitty liar. Plus the laptop that I'm carrying kinda gives away that I'm doing SOMETHING.
