Fixed.

Agent Icebeezy said:No, it doesn't. It is far from true. Big L is one of the greatest rappers of all-time. To most people, you'll hear a who is that? Fans of respective genres that go beneath the mainstream surface find your statement to be dreadfully false
Thank you. I'm no fan of rap, I never ever listen to it - but I kind of know where you're coming from. I'd rather listen to 2Pac and Compton's Most Wanted instead of most mainstream rap today. The same argument applies to so many genres of music.Agent Icebeezy said:No, it doesn't. It is far from true. Big L is one of the greatest rappers of all-time. $$$$MONEY$$$$
Megafoo Chavez said:you also have to go into what popular is. Big L is popular in the underground rap world you speak of then ok he is a good rapper and is popular.
yeah money. because the industry doesnt want to make money from the greatest rappers nobody ever heard of.
Wha?Megafoo Chavez said:btw i just would like to say all you indie fucks that compain that nobody listens to your music! it should be popular! are the same people that will cry and hate their bands for selling out. go suck a fuck

I don't hate Radiohead or SP or Pearl Jam or Deftones for "selling out". These are just the names that popped into my head for five seconds. Selling out and reamining talented and creative is one thing. Selling out and not caring afterwards is another - and that's what we're seeing and hearing today. In every category, pretty much.

I know for a fact that radio stations and parent companies like Clearchannel push certain artist over others in order to push a talent into making them more listeners, more money...while ignoring other comparable talent.

Megafoo Chavez said:obviously i disagree because if he was the one of the greatest rapper of all-time he would be one of the most popular rapper of all time. Thats how math in my reality works. Good Rap = people like. people like = pass on to other people. lots of people = SUPER POPULAR

there is also a fine line in music. Theres music that is technically good and other musicians appreciate. then there is obviously pop no brainer insta jingles.
Ratings for awards shows plunge
By BILL BRIOUX - Toronto Sun
Have we finally fallen out of love with J.Lo, Britney, Paris or the other seven people we've been obsessed with the past few years?
Ratings for awards shows are falling faster than Joan Rivers' latest facelift. Sunday's Grammy Awards (CBS: 19.41 million viewers) were down a whopping 24% compared with a year ago stateside. Not only did it not win the week, it didn't even win the timeslot, where it was beaten by ABC's Desperate Housewives (22.13 million viewers).
It was the same story in Canada, where CTV's not-so-Desperate Housewives (2.25 million) easily beat Global's Grammys (1.61 million).
More telling, perhaps, was the huge drop in pre-show ratings. E!'s Live from the Red Carpet, hosted by Star Jones Reynolds (and seen locally on Star!), plummeted 42% in the U.S. from the year before (when Joan and Melissa did it). The dip can't all be blamed on Star-fawning-Jones. She pulled more than twice the viewers the Rivers girls did Sunday on their new U.S. cable home, the TV Guide Channel.
The trend isn't limited to The Grammys.
Ratings for last month's Golden Globes were down nearly 40% from the year before. That show pulled 16.7 million U.S. viewers on NBC, where it came third in its timeslot behind unstoppable Desperate Housewives (24 million) and CBS's Cold Case.
It was the least-watched Globes ever on NBC and the biggest Globes flop on network TV since 1982. Again, the red carpet show was down from the year before.
It gets worse. Ratings from last September's 2004 Emmy Awards slipped to 14 million ABC viewers --the smallest Emmy audience since 1990. That represented a 34% drop in the 18-49-year-old demographic year-to-year.
The downward trend must be of concern to CTV, which has both The Academy Awards (Feb. 27) and The Junos (April 3 from Winnipeg) on their calendar. Last year's Juno broadcast on CTV was down sharply from the year before, despite host Alanis Morissette getting nearly naked.
ABC hopes hip host Chris Rock can goose this year's Oscar broadcast. But without anything close to a Lord Of The Rings blockbuster among the contenders, Rock is looking at a much smaller room.
It could just be that, no matter who is hosting, we're just burnt out on the same stars fetching the same hardware. Other theories:
* Their 15 minutes are up. Paris? Not hot. J.Lo? S.O.L. Madonna, Britney, Julia, Jennifer ... we're bored with you. Sell us something we want or quit wasting our time.
* The wall of entertainment magazine noise from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. every night has drained every ounce of interest in what Brad Pitt or Jennifer Aniston are wearing -- or who.
* All these American and Canadian Idol weenies have watered down the concept of celebrity to the point that there is no distinction to being a star anymore -- and hence no interest.
* Today's film, music and TV -- bad.
* People would rather watch Desperate Housewives than desperate celebrities.
* Awards shows are stupid.
