Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas Releases... Again

http://biz.gamedaily.com/articles.asp?section=news&email=&article_id=10589#10589

According to certain online retailers, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas has shipped for Xbox. Both EB Games and GameStop list the game (called Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas 2nd Edition) as "Usually ships in 24 hours." GameStop marks the PC version of the game "Pre-Release ETA: 9/19/05" and does not mention the PS2 version.

In late July 2005, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas was given an "AO" rating for the content unlocked by the "Hot Coffee" modification. Since major retailers make it company policy not to carry products with an "AO" rating, the game was pulled from store shelves, costing retailers and Take-Two Interactive millions. Take-Two immediately vowed to have a clean version of the game out in six to eight weeks. However, major retailers like Walmart and Best Buy are not listing the game on their webpages and may choose not to carry it given the controversy surrounding the title.

The old one, Wal-Mart. I work in electronics, we buy back all recalled games we sold in stores. So you bring in GTA, we give you $50 plus tax for it. You have to have the box and manual though.

Will all Wal-Marts do this?

So, it's not really a buy-back per se. It's allowing people to return without a receipt. The assumption being that people expected to keep it, but are offended by the content and Wal-Mart is only too happy to take back those copies and return them to Take-Two. [if true]

Of course, you'll end up getting a store voucher, not cash. (without a receipt)

Gotta love Wal-Mart. A true bastion of decency and morality. "We'll get GTA out of kids hands", but "Heh, we have a great rifle section. And buying them is really, really easy" :D

It is a nation wide recall according to the paperwork I got, so all of them should do it.

Actually, it is a buy-back. You bring your copy to me, I will buy it back for the retail price when the recall went into affect. Which is of course $50. You don't get a gift card or a "voucher", you get cash money. It's just like a return with a receipt, only since it is a recall you do not need a receipt.

And rifles are not easy to buy here. Quit believing every word Micheal Moore says.

europe 4 teh win, we also get Fahrenheit (Indigo Prophecy) with uncut sex scenes hurrah!

And 16+ age rating. So the thing dictating 18+ is extreme violence against other people, not nudity - the way it should be.

I guess I'm gonna return my GTA:SA for $50 then :D And, I'll rebuy the GH version in about a month or so, most likely. (I'm still in the middle of it - It's so freaking HUGE!)

Just a joke. And I hate Michael Moore. He's a big fat jackass, IMO

Sorry to go off topic a little but i still find it shocking how in the uk we have a store called staples that sells paper, computers and tables etc, i think america has staples stores as well but basically wal mart is similar to staples and also sells childrens toys, food and RIFLES?! even if they are not easy to get that is mighty disturbing.

Walmart (some) is all encompassing now. Restaurant, supermarket, gardening, home repair, toys, electronics, furniture and everything in-between.

THERE WE GO

FYI, Staples is more of an office supply store, like an Office Depot or OfficeMax. Walmart is more like a Target or K-Mart, in that they sell a little bit of everything.

While I haven't been into that many Walmarts, the only time I see guns in them is in the hunting section, so it's not like they have a spefic gun department or anything like that.

.

Is this something new or this is what Wal Mart has been doing since July when GTA was changed to AO?

I think it would be hilarious if something else was found that requires a second recall and third edition of the game. Oh boy that would be funny.

I only played it for about 3 hours, so I think I may just return it and buy Meteos, or something. Actually now that I think about it maybe I will wait until tomorrow and buy Katamari with the money :D
