Grandia III new trailer

I remember beating grandia II, maybe ill play III and beat that as well. When IV comes out I can mention then that I beat II and III, and that IV was next!

The music they are using as the main theme (?) is ass, and the character design doesn't do much for me, but those in-game graphics look hot.

This game is got damn beautiful. I don't really like what I heard from the music so far, but man, those graphics are out of sight. Honestly, I think THIS will be THE definitive ps2 rpg. This'll be the game that 5 years from now, people will be like, "Did you remember Grandia III on PS2? Damn that game was awesome!"

Those backgrounds are the best I've seen on the PS2. I hope it's better than Grandia II and not as annoying as the original Grandia.

:lol Sorry but no, MGS3 already got ahold of that spot anyway("game of PS2" or whatever you were implying). :P

Anyway, G3 looks sweet...but I'm weary of it since I absolutely hated G1 and sort of liked G2.

Yeah. those cutscenes look great, I liked also the look of combat with the main character taking all those slices at that monster and then cutting it up into the air.

The music I think is an odd choice, I like the character designs, it seems as though they are a mix of Justin and Ryudo and Feena and whatever her name is in the second one (the priestess).

That trailer was great but I can't help but feel that I saw heaps of spoilers whilst watching it. :/

Are the cutscenes done with the in game engine or with CG? If it's done with the in game engine, wow, the PS2 is putting out amazing graphics still...

The theme/tie-in song is really blah for the game. It's not bad alone but it's meh to the trailer. I love the artwork and the character designs are great sans a little bit of the fluff in the costumes.

I think all the cutscenes in the trailer were FMV, here's the difference between the FMV and realtime cutscenes

This is going to be so awesome. Grandia II was terrific (didn't care much for the first).

What's the estimated American release for this?

They just made the pre-rendered stuff have crap geometry to make the transition less jarring , which is a good idea I think.

Budget reasons, I'd say. PS2-quality visuales with added effects, just like the Xenosaga games. Looks nice, anyway.

Damn, the game is looking excellent. The combat looks brilliant and the Japanese VA is pretty good. Grandia is definitely one of my favorite RPG's and I like it more than its sequel. I wonder if III will surpass I for me though. I can't freaking wait for this.

Wonder if they will dub this or just subtitle it.

I hope both so I could have a choice between the dub (and subs because I like it that way) or original VA with subs. Anyway, I want this game NOW!

AWESOME. PS2 will have one of the sweetest "deads" of all console history. Maybe it was planned by Sony months months ago to face the so-much expected 360 earlier launch :)

Well, graphic-wise this game looks awesome so far, yes, but everything else looks pretty average to me (especially compared to Shadow Hearts 3). The character design is really boring and the music in this trailer is meh, in my opinion.

Yeah, the trailer was all FMV besides the gameplay footage. It's just using in-game art. It's also a bit different from how Xenosaga did it because in XS they mainly just used real-time models and added some special effects. In these FMVs the backgrounds are all CG work, the special effects CG work, and the models are really cleaned up and smoothed out.

One things for sure, if that trailer wasn't just an OP collage then G3 will have a ton of FMV :)

Looks great, I hope they improve the animation though. The characters' movements have a slight resemblance to dolls at times (ie twitchy).

I don't think all of those cutscenes were FMV...

The FMV scenes had obvious temporal motion blur, which always reveals whether something is pre-rendered or not. There were a number of scenes that seemed to be realtime.

I'm sure it IS just like XS, where they simply use video for more complex scenes and scenes where they wish to avoid loading.

Please don't suck like Grandia II. Please rock like Grandia and Grandia X.

Oh and GameArts, make sure you fucking put CAMERA FUCKING CONTROLS ON THE RIGHT FUCKING STICK, KTHXBYE.

I have more and more the taste for RPGs again tks to FF12, DQ8 and Grandia 3.

I hope they will all turn good!!

My sentiments exactly. I got a little burned out on RPGs years ago, and only played the FFs until this gen, I'm glad we're getting a quality influx, especially with all the hype surrounding next-gen. It further validated my decision to wait a while for next-gen. :D

Ohh, wish I could get ahold of the History of Grandia "SOUND ADVENTURE
BOX"...but it seems like it will be somewhat limited. :\

It took this long for someone to mention how shitty Grandia II was whilst everyone praised it. How fucking hilarious :lol

I am also hoping to god that Square Enix allow an option to have it in original Japanese with English subtitles for the voice acting. I can just feel the dread and doom of English voice actors fucking this up again :(

Hmm? What exactly is hilarious now?

Because the story is atrocious, the voice acting in English even worse and the only thing that saves it is the standard battle system from the first game. I've never seen such a game be lauded but also dragged through the mud like Grandia II is.

I agree that the game was too short and simple, but it was still enjoyable.

The English voice acting certainly wasn't bad either. It's considerably better than your average dubbed RPG (as if that says much...). The cast did a great job.

I have faith in GIII, though. Grandia Xtreme did so much right, so I'm hoping they'll put that experience to use...
