Yay, more comic book films!

Writer Grant Morrison is in negotiations to adapt his "We3" comic book into a feature film for New Line Cinema says Reuters. Don Murphy is producing.

"We3" was a three-issue limited series written by Morrison and drawn by Frank Quitely. It revolved around three pets -- a dog, a cat and a bunny -- kidnapped from their homes by the government and hard-wired into military battle suits, turning into robo-assassins.

When their government masters deem them expendable, they break out into the free world and try to find their true home, all the while reverting to their more traditional animallike behavior.

Insiders describe the tale as "Homeward Bound" meets "The Terminator." If the project goes forward, it would be a rare effects-heavy pic for the studio as the animals would be entirely computer generated.

Much as I loved We3, I can't see this working well. It was quite cinematic in it's execution, but without a good director it's going to suck.
