Greatest multiplatform game of all time?

What would you consider the greatest multiplatform game (or series) of all time? I've never really been a multi-console gamer so I am genuinely interested.

The ideal multiplatform game would maintain a consistent high quality across many different console (or handheld) versions, and even across different generations. Bonus points if the port manages to take advantage of each console's unique features.

Here's my (obvious) choice:

Tetris - Its probably the most ubiquitous videogame, with ports ranging from TI calculators to mainframes. And most Tetris ports I've played have been pretty good because the concept is so simple.

So what's your pick?

The upcoming Resident Evil 4.

It really looks like it will be..

I'd also say Soul Calibur 2 is probably one of the best. I've only played it on GCN and PS2, but both versions kick ass, so I assume the Xbox version is just as good.

I consider a true multiplatform game one that is released on all current gen consoles at the same time. And under those guidelines PoP: Sands of Time pwns the competition.

There are so many to choose from (I love Rayman 2), but here's another great puzzle game that has persevered over many platforms

Wait.........*takes deep breath*........ WHAT? Don't play.

EDIT: Oh I'm stoopid I read that as Best MultiPLAYER game. F*CK!

:lol You confused me there for a second.

Man, now that I think about it, that'd be a fucking AWESOME multiplayer game. Think about it... being stuck in the village with tons of rooms to barricade, and for others to break through or snipe through the windows. It'd be intense.

Well, if by multiplatform, we mean "simultaneous development and/or release" (which is how I'd tend to interpret it), RE4 would be excluded. My vote goes to BG&E.

FFVIII and Skies of Arcadia, soon to be dethroned by RE4.

Unless you want to count OoT. :)

You misspelled Soul Calibur 2

Heehee, the technical irony is that you misspelled Soulcalibur.
LOL, your right. I've just "Drinkied my Dog" ®©™

I want to say Bubble Bobble, but it's obviously Tetris. I can't believe the number of wrong answers in this thread.

Madden 06? Wtf. That has got to be a joke. Right?

Runners up:
Beyond Good & Evil
Prince of Persia

Winner :
Street Fighter 2

I'm not a fan of vs fighters, but noone in their right mind can deny the success and quality of SF2, and it was released on practically everything.

Quake 2.

Ms Pac Man, especially considering the cool additions varios console/handheld versions added (like fast mode, expanded mazes).

Worms

Puzzle Bobble

Of course I won't mention games like Yoshi's Island or Zelda ALttP, because those are not really multiplatform games ^^. Imo the best one is Rayman 2 which was pure magic on every platform it appeared. PC, PS, PS2, NDS, N64 and DC (the best of all) were all granted by this gem. I really hope, Ancel will work on Rayman 4 so that this will be on par with this masterpiece.Everyone who doesn't habe it, there is no excuse, it's on really every platform last gen and and some newer ones, so get your copy NOW (preferably the Dreamcast version of course ^^)
