102.1 The Edge in Toronto is going to be playing a recording of Green Day's Toronto concert from last week at 5:00 tonight :) It's just Green Day playing the entirety of American Idiot

I'm definitely blasting this at work later on

I want it!

They're going to be playing a show in the UK called Jools Holland, they should be able to do a few songs, I'm hoping they play some stuff off AI. My housemate has a video capture card, I'll try and capture it and put up a torrent or something.

LOL @ calling Jesus of Suburbia an epic. What a disgrace.

Look man, I don't go calling Dreamtheater a disgrace just because I don't like their music. It's called a difference of opinion.

Anyways, I strongly smell that you are trolling this thread so I'm gonna leave it at that.

As much as I like Green Day, Jesus Of Suburbia is really like 4 or 5 songs just stuck together. It's no epic

To me it's an epic, and that's all that matters...

Well, to be fair if you called Dream Theater a disgrace in comparison to Green Day you'd never be able to speak again.

Yeah, Dream Theatre is more of a disgrace to rock in general than in comparison to any one band. Ahahahahahahaha!

Seriously, if you're into keyboard solos and noodly guitar wanks I'm surprised you would even admit to listening to a new Green Day album. Doesn't that count as commiting some hugely grievous prog-metal fan mortal sin?

Nope, I listen to pretty much every kind of music there is. Green Day is just shit.

If anything is a disgrace its you, people's taste in music is subjective and you are no more right or wrong.

stop being a sheep and let people enjoy what they want.

I was just reading an article on American idiot and...

In reviews of American Idiot, "Jesus of Suburbia" is often singled out as the album's musical and emotional highlight. Some DJs are even spinning the epic track.

I heard the insert the CD comes with is "required reading." Problem is, I bought the album on iTunes. Can somebody post a summary of what it says?

Also, let's get a plot summary here. I'm trying to understand all of it, but I just keep picking up new things over and over again.

Is St. Jimmy a figment of Jesus' imagination? I'm referencing the line "and St. jimmy is a figment of your father's rage and your mother's love." and the fact that Jimmy's suicide is Jesus' "own personal suicide."

Striker, some people believe Jesus and Jimmy are two different people, but I think it makes much more sense that Jesus/Jimmy is a dual personality type thing.

That's what I'm thinking.

Screw spoilers.

"In the crowd of pain. St. Jimmy comes without any shame
He says “we're fucked up”
But we're not the same
And mom and dad are the ones you can blame"

They're not the same personality, but they are probably split personalties. Though I think Jimmy is more a figment of Jesus' imagination. Those are pretty similar things though. But it's obvious that Mom and Dad are responsible for the existance of Jimmy, because they fucked up Jesus' love.

The limited edition version has like a diary of Jesus between the songs.

ATM, I think St. Jimmy is a persona of Jesus, someone he becomes to get over the problems in Boulevard/Are We The Waiting. There's all kinds of hints - Jesus is "The son of rage and love" and St Jimmy "Is the figment of, your fathers rage and your mothers love." Amongst the extra notes is the snippet that Whatsername calls Jesus "Jimmy."

Like I say, I still find new things listening to it each time...

...I have listened to Most of the album like 15 times, and haven't once started to think about the story.

So sue me.

Just got the album the other day, and finally got around to listening through it in full.

It definitely marks a departure for the band from their normal offerings, perhaps for the better.

Really liking it so far, with Jesus of Suburbia and Whatsername being the highlights of the package to my mind.
