so even with a friend if you trade wins to unlock engine upgrades you need to sit through 82 races?

Yep, good fun racing etc folks. When I got back you seemed to have all called it a night but I enjoyed it nonetheless.

final got the first engine unlock racing a host at the airport who spun me out on lap 2 for passing in his 10 lap Airport race
he had his mic on said YOU CUT ME OFF BOY
I just grinded slipstream behind him for some needed slipstream time not being sure how that works but I think I only got on the whole race when I blew pass him the first time
so on the final turn on lap 10 I spun him out to see what he would say to that
YOU SPUN A MAN OUT ON THE LAST LAP

yeah thats how it works afaik.
You can't simply change the account you play on and suddenly access foreign servers.
I think its because the JP version is over censored and has too many differences compared to versions like the US, UK version.
Its been stated on their official website as well.

It's really not that bad. I'm very far from the best racer (ask anyone!) and am way too polite to push my way through the pack but even I got there... in the end.
Just from what you said in your post I have full faith you could do it! Host non-custom vehicle races and get busy achieving. Go GAF.
If you do want to shortcut it, I can turn my PS4 on now or anytime for the next five hours and join a closed lobby you host and just get on with the shit I need to get done around the house whilst you win replay win replay etc etc.
Message GTAGAF on PSN and I'll log on as soon as I see the message. I think the app buzzes my phone when there's a notification so I should notice.

I don't think it will be relevant to too many GAF'ers but I will definitely put it in the FAQ because it is pretty significant.
If you start a JGAF crew and have any interest let me know and add that as well.

I'm glad i did all my custom unlocks last gen, having said that I will help people if they need it on XB1 as I need a few turbos and slipstreams.

Are you not allowed to edit your character's complete appearance/gender?
I had a bug once, and when I logged back into GTA:O I was able to swap genders, but keep everything else. (Stats, ownerships, ..)
You can attempt this
You can't edit your character technically after it is finalized other than by the above method.
The problem is that it's my second character that I want to change lol

Nope.
I'd been waiting it out but I missed joining quick races too much and have given in!
Took turbos off twelve cars last night. Didn't cost too much to remove them but it was a dull half an hour or so. It's also going to cost about 350k to replace them when the bug is fixed. I hope R* give us a couple of weeks of discounted turbos at LSC with the patch that fixes it but I doubt it somehow.

I lost a lot of races so I doubt I am any better but racing you guys should be great fun

Like an actual contact mission? If so they're not in a free roam session but a specific LS for the mission.
If you stay spectating until they have completed the mission you will return to the mission voting screen with them.

Could be if you have manual aim or if you're using auto aim. If you have auto-aim on then you'll likely find large lobbies, with free aim you're basically on your own. GTA is one of the only games to not have settings for online and single player, so you have to actually go to SIngle player, toggle your setting, then boot back to multiplayer. It's basically the worst settings system ever made in a mainstream videogame.

I use free-aim and I'm regularly put into 20+ player lobbies. Lowest I ever get is around mid-late teens.

Oh nice, seems better than it was a week or two ago then for sure. Free aim was really a ghost town for me when I jumped back in.

What would the alternative be? It would be so much worse having the free aim people matched with the auto aim.
Edit: It is shit that you have to change this setting in SP instead of the host of the room choosing and being able to filter rooms by setting.
While auto-aim is 10x worse than aim assist, you don't see CoD segregate players based on that alone.

Well it's either split the player-base (not that it matters much, this game is huge and will be populated for years to come), or have everyone who uses assisted aiming demolish everyone who uses free-aim. I'd rather have the current setup.

Good games last night (well morning really for me).
Just one little thing, when doing co-op missions it is really useful to at least have a way of hearing your other players even if you can't respond. I tend not to speak online unless have to if my other half is around and watching the TV but will almost always have an ear bud in just to hear any plans.
Also, blowing shit up is fun, and not the end of the world if it goes awry...

took a few hours to get lung capacity to full 5 Bars stats skills

That only works in single player not online. There's submarines on the map though one at the merryweather base the other near the lighthouse.
