GTA: San Andreas coming to iOS/Android/Kindle/Windows Mobile; controllers supported

An HTC One X. The controls don't work at all when I try to play. Had to call Rockstar Support and they basically told me that it's incompatible and I can get a refund if I want to but GTAIII and MP were only $.99 each so I was like eh fuck it.

Wait that phone has a Tegra 3 what could be the issue?

I'm really surprised they haven't taken a few minutes to port this, III, or Vice City to the Ouya. The latter work perfectly well, and it'd be a damn good money maker for them.

As for the free content, just put a 15 minute timer in there that shuts the game off if they haven't purchased it.

PC version of the GTA games are poorly optimized? :(

I have them on Steam but haven't played them yet.

Ehhhhhhhhhhhhhhh... Yeah and nah.

All Rockstar games using that engine run pretty poorly because of the junky streaming, except for Manhunt of course because it doesn't stream dynamically. That said, it's mostly just hitching now and then if you're playing on modern hardware, so really nothing to stress out about.

I own an ouya, but it's a dead platform. Porting these on xbla/psn would have made more sense, but I'll play it on mobile.

it's like Sega keeping chuchu rocket on mobile. Not port begging.

I feel like the majority of people that buy these GTA games on mobile boot it up for 5 minutes, say "wow" that this huge game fits on their phone and than never play it again. I can't imagine playing through any of these games through touch only on that tiny screen.

Pretty much, in my case. On the plus side, we'll get to see modders port the new improvements over to the PC version.

At first I was a little iffy with this announcement, but I realised...I've just bought myself the Nexus 7 2013 edition; San Andreas upgraded will go lovely with it!! :P

Oh ok. Damn $100. Idk if it's worth that just to play gta games on my iPhone 5. I really want one though.

They have them in stock at my local Apple Store. I might go by and take a look.

$99 is steep, but it does keep the battery charged while playing, which is pretty cool.

Wow at the port begging.

R* I am sure will make far more money off of mobile than Vita/3ds

I don't think people are saying Rockstar will make more money with a Vita/3DS port compared to a mobile port. They're saying Rockstar would make more money & porting to (Vita at least) shouldn't be too difficult. Not only that, these two already have control schemes.

But yea, I already have GTA 3 and Vice City on my iPhone. Maybe I'll get this.

Nice. I actually really liked GTA III and Vice City on iOS.

I beat GTA III and got 100 percent on Vice City on my iPhone 5 :lol

I honestly enjoy these games a lot on iPhone. They look way better than the PS2 versions and run 100 times smoother than on my laptop because of all the weird frame limiter/resolution oddities.

Windows Phone is actually increasing market share believe it or not.

Vita is also increasing market with all PS4 coming and more people noticing it.

My Xperia Z1 shouldn't have problem running this though with DS3! Hope they update with DS4 support if there isn't already one I don't know of.

woah that took me by surprise! i thought that they would only launch this in 2014 for the 10th anniversary of san andreas. pretty cool nonetheless. it makes me wonder though what could they make to celebrate 10 years of san andreas.

Mess at people port begging and getting banned over a 2004 PS2 game.

Is this the first mobile GTA? Will sell shit tons.

Vice city and III launched for mobile too

Nah, they've put out GTA III and Vice City already. Not sure exactly how well they did, but it couldn't have been too bad if they're doing a third.

$0.99 price drop of course!

The touch controls in the mobile GTA ports are not that good imo but 3 and Vice City worked fine with a controller on android so I'll definitely be getting this. I think this will be the fourth time I've bought San Andreas too.

Hmm, I guess I don't know the difference between port begging and port wishing or expressing disappointment as punishable versus excitement. I mean this is NeoGAF, there's bound to be an excess amount of disappointment in every "good" news...

Anyway, looking forward to it and I'll play it again on my iPad :D

Touch controls are so bad on GTA3, I have barely made it past the first part of the game.

Man I really wish touch controls were better:/

I played through a fair the majority of vice city when I first got my iphone 5 and thought it was pretty great. The only thing stopping me from finishing it was that it took up a fair chunk of space on my 16gig that's filled with me music. It's good that it has cloud saving though so if I ever freed up room I could play it again from where I left off. I did just purchase a vita so we shall see if my portable gaming habits switch to that exclusively now

How well will it run?

It depends on the device. GTA3 and Vice City run better on my Nexus 7 2012 than they did on the PS2, on the Shield they'll probably run really well. On a lower end phone not so great I guess, but they do have a resolution slider and other settings you can tweak.

ehhh...really don't wanna play this on my ipad. I tried vice city on my galaxy and touch controls just don't work right for this genre...

this might be worth it for the soundtrack alone. I don't think I have a device that can run it though.

I'm still using a HTC G2 :p
