GTA V PC Full Graphics Options Revealed

While I guess the option to have the game play at any refresh rate would be nice, I'm not really bothered if it ends up being "capped" at 60. Some games benefit greatly from FPS > 60 (Titanfall, CoD, other fast paced shooters).

However, I don't see it being a huge deal for (mostly) third person games, or open world experiences like GTA.

So I'm guessing that distance scaling setting is kind of like ArmA's draw distance slider? If so, it'll have the biggest impact on CPU strain right?

Am I retarded, or does this countdown imply that the game will be out on 4/13 at 4pm PST?

AMD's CHS would probably be a far better choice in this case, as the performance impact is nowhere near as big as PCSS and it looks fairly similar.

Fairly similar, maybe. But not the same. From what I've seen PCSS as implemented so far has had much different (better) coverage than the standard developer-supplied shadows. Pretty sure that's the reason as for why it's so ridiculously demanding. In Unity there were more shadows, not only higher resolution shadows (though they were that, too).

I don't know about AMD's CHS but it'll probably be the default shadows with AMD's contact-hardening algorithm instead of the default. This should be more accommodating for regular gameplay.

Nice to have PCSS for screenshots and such, though if nothing else.

fuck it, man

I have a 2gig 680 and an i5 2500k at 4.0ghz

and i'll shoot for 60 with alright graphics

im shooting for the mooooooooon

amount of shit you can tone down has me hopeful

If this port is on Max Payne 3 level, I should expect 1080p@60fps at ultra settings with my i5 4670k and GTX 970 + 8 GB RAM, shouldn't I? Perhaps, I'll need to finally overclock my CPU.
Funny enough I have almost the same build, only difference being my 4690k

Despite knowing the ending already, this will be my first proper playthrough if I do purchase it day one. Just in time for my new 1440p monitor.

A new radio station has been added that will import your local music and insert DJ stings and adverts, or you can just play your tracks sequentially.

That's sooooo good. Not a big pop fan so this will make the game hopefully near perfect.
Was this implemented on the consoles?

I don't understand why so many games don't provide SMAA. It's like FXAA, but it sucks way, way less. And injecting it with SweetFX makes things like fine text look badly dithered.

It's not like FXAA at all. FXAA has a fixed frametime cost while for SMAA this cost is different based on the frame content. FXAA is used more often because it is more predictable for consoles usage. Why omit SMAA for PC versions - I dunno, laziness?

Machines at minimum spec are expected to handle GTA V at 800x600 and 20 to 30 frames-per-second - while recommended spec systems should manage 1080p and meet 60fps on medium settings.
That explains it.

I have to say I am a bit intimidated. Some of the stuff sounds costly.

Still, so far so good.

And yes, buying for the third time.

That explains it.

What are the recommended specs?

Edit:
OS: Windows 8.1 64 Bit, Windows 8 64 Bit, Windows 7 64 Bit Service Pack 1
Processor: Intel Core i5 3470 @ 3.2GHZ (4 CPUs) / AMD X8 FX-8350 @ 4GHZ (8 CPUs)
Memory: 8GB
Video Card: NVIDIA GTX 660 2GB / AMD HD7870 2GB
Sound Card: 100% DirectX 10 compatible
HDD Space: 65GB
DVD Drive

Not bad at all for 1080/60fps at medium.

If I can't get 60 FPS maxed out @ 1440p on my GTX Titan SC and i7 4770k. I will call this not optimized.

That stealth brag. Yes Smokey we get it you have Titan X's.

I'm still not jealous, I got a Titan with 6GB VRAM, never had to worry, and it has been what now? 2 years since I bought my PC. :)
Funny thing is that a new card will be out soon for half the cost which will be just as fast, 980Ti, his 12GB of VRAM is useless and the card will bottleneck far before it can even use all 12GB in gaming.

The jokes on him for wasting money, not that I am salty or anything, my 7950 is great... :/

my specs surpass recommended settings which apparently results in 1080p 60fps at medium.

what do you think i'd get with these specs? recommended specs in brackets:

i5-4590 3.3GHz (i5-3470),
8GB 1600Mhz (8GB),
R9 290 4GB (AMD 7870 2GB).

The 4590 isn't a huge amount faster than the recommended 3470 but the 290 is considerably more powerful than a 7870.

I'd be happy with 1080p 60fps at high with decent AA on. or 1080p 30fps at very high again with decent AA.

“The PC version of Grand Theft Auto V is the result of a collaboration between the core Grand Theft Auto team and our lead PC developers from across all of Rockstar’s studios,” explains the Rockstar North team. “Over the past few years, we realised that in order to really improve our PC versions, the core games team had to work a lot more closely with our PC-focused developers.”

“We first put this into practise with Max Payne 3 and we were really happy with the results, so the same key group that worked on Grand Theft Auto V was much more involved in the development of the PC version this time around."

I've been holding off for ever, but this got me over the preorder edge. If they do not deliver there will be consequences. MP3 is the only good Rockstar PC port, and they better not be teasing.

Smokey's got a 4k monitor. He'll be using more than 6GB of vRAM pretty easily in many titles with the settings turned up.

I wonder how a dual monitor setup would work.

Anyone have any ideas? Gameplay on one and the map on the other?

Weird, if a single 7870 can run it at 4k 30fps, then a single card like 980 or 290x would be enough for 60fps. They probably mean it with everything on low-med or so.

Hope that means the gpus you mentioned can run the game @1080p w/ high or very high settings
