Give Quick credit, too. He made the visuals.

Went back and edited my post to include him. You two did a great job. :)

I really hoping this does well, it seems like James Gunn and co. really put a lot of care into making it. But then, if Marvel was able to make Iron Man and Thor into successful franchises, it's certainly possible for the Guardians as well.

I'll continue to constantly edit this thread (& not just for actual reviews). Anything Quick & I should change or add?

Can't wait

Still disappointing that Rocket isn't a Cockney lil cunt though :(

Do we really need another super hero with a American/ Canadian accent?
Greg Ellis, & many voice actors like him (H. Jon Benjamin included), were deemed "too cartoony" by James Gunn. By which he meant they brought out the comedic elements of Rocket, but didn't go as far into the dramatic parts as he would have wanted. They made Rocket sound too much like a cartoon character in his eyes, when Gunn wanted Rocket to be as real as possible. Apparently Bradley Cooper was the only one who delivered what Gunn wanted.

But believe me, once you watch the movie, you won't care about the accent, because Bradley Cooper just about nails everything else about Rocket & ends up stealing the show in the preview that I saw (& in case you're wondering, yes, Bradley could do a Cockney accent if he wanted, & a pretty decent one at that, but Gunn decided against it for the reasons explained earlier). Plus there's nothing in the comics (DnA or otherwise) that dictate that Rocket had a Cockney accent in the comics like he did in UMvC3 & EMH. For reference, look at Cosmo's dialogue in the same run of GotG that I mentioned earlier (the one that inspired the movie in the first place), it explicitly shows that he has a Russian accent.

I can attest to this. I was highly skeptical of Cooper's casting-and wasn't happy at all. The preview completely sold me. This isn't a Hollywood actor giving a lazy voice over-his voice is a performance and gives Rocket a very specific and unique personality.

I added a Fun Fact section on how the Guardians movie came to be in the first place in the OP. The summary of it, Based Nicole Perlman (& the sacrifice of an Avenger).

Great interview. Talk about a producer that completly understands the process. His insistence that Groot and Rocket not be just cartoons and comic relief is wonderful.
Agreed. It's insane how on the ball Feige is. Surreal, even.

I love that he feels is making an obscure character into a movie isn't necessarily a risk. What's most important is to make a great movie out of that obscure character

And yet nerds doubt him, the whole antman debacle just showed how really this man knows his shit.

The whole Ant-Man debacle is the best possible proof of how a producer knowing his shit doesn't always lend itself to the creative.

Ant-Man will probably turn out fine, but contrary to Feige's damage control, the best possible version of that movie would have been the one written and directed by Edgar Wright.

So, what do you guys think about how this movie will do in the US on Opening Weekend? Over or under the projected minimum of $60 million?

My guess, over $60 million assuming it's well-received. I always thought it would make around Apes money (give or take), given that there's a lot more buzz surrounding GotG outside of GuardiansGAF & the comic book community. Could it make $80 million, maybe, but it'd need to have Winter Soldier levels of positive word-of-mouth. But right now, I say over $60 million, landing itself somewhere around $70 million.

After watching all of the video for trailers, previews, snippets and etc, alI i have to say is that if this movie doesn't make Winter Soldier numbers we failed as species and should be ashamed.

Between 60 and 70 is my guess. I am still guessing Cap 1 or Thor 1 numbers in the end. $65m opening weekend. Legs after that depend on word of mouth.

Anything over $70m is just icing on the cake.
