Guess the PS3 price?

Do you think Sony is going to eat the losses and stay competitive with Microsoft or go high but claim it's the superior product?

ONE MILLION DOLLARS!

i think its gonna be $499. i say this because it almost seems like theyre adding filler (stuff like up to 7 bluetooth controllers and built-in multi-format flash memory reader) to compensate for the higher price tag. if they were gonna take a bigger loss and launch at $399 to be more competetive price wise it seems like controllers would be at a max of 4 and something like a memory card reader wouldnt be in to cut corners.

199 Standard Pack
299 HDD Premium Pack
399 Giga Pack with Blu-ray

Blu-ray add-on available separately for 150.

<sigh> Once again I'll repeate this like a broken record:

The bluetooth specification supports 7 device connections. That's an inherent limit/function of the Bluetooth, which has nothing to do with the PS3. There's no additional cost in a bluetooth radio that supports 7 connections.

And a multi-format card reader costs pennies these days...

Bluetooth chipset and flash card reader add $25 max to each unit price (more likely $5-10 when you factor in a 50M unit purchase)

$299-$399 is the range it will be in.

$399 Core system. One bluetooth controller and a cheap HDMI cable/w DVI adapter and cheap audio cables. Maybe PC/Mac software for Sony Connect and wifi setup. No memory card, Blu-ray Movies, or any other packins, but might include game demos and/or previews on... 1 or 2 DVDs.

$599 Media Bundle. Premium cables (retail versions), 100gb HDD, 1 extra controller, 1 Blu-Ray Movie, Remote control and free 6 month subscription to Sony Connect or whatever online service they implement. Last but not least, same game demos/previews as the Core pack. No Memory cards still.

No word on controller recharging dock until final controller is shown. No word on HDD sold seperately until HDD implementation is final (bring your own or not). Buy your own Memory Cards of course. ;)

$699

Panasonic didn't fear it.
I paid almost that. got it at $599...

Trip Hawkins owes me $499 (figure I got at least $100 out of Star Control 2 and SSF2)

anyway, I am guessing $399 w/o HDD. $499 w/HDD.

$299 is the only way to hit 200 million. So I'll go with that, even if it's considered unrealistic.
