You know... in AB, that Bath Temple HP which may have an event on. That event should really be listed as a Group Event but it isn't >_>

On the bright side. that's Druid finished. I'll probably try to get Soul Beast when PoF comes out but I prefer the idea of Druid over Soul Beast personally.

Did the GAF guild come back? I'm totally recooked on this game. Bought heart of thorns and the new xpac along with the living world stuff.

Have a level 80 ele, beat the OG campaign way back when. On the magguma server I think.

5th birthday gifts are coming out for headstart characters. You pick another backpiece and two "Luminous" weapons, which are all pretty neat from a quick glance. I'm sure someone will get them on the reddit soon if not already.

The Luminous Weapon skins are quite nice, chose the Longbow and Staff.

Also chose the Glossy Black dye in the Solar and Lunar pack but most of the Solar and Lunar dyes are quite nice really.

I grabbed Greatsword and Hammer.

And I got the Midnight Bronze, I love those midnight colors on metal.

Greatsword luminous skin so far. Not sure about the second yet.

I'm 6 days away from crafting my first ascended weapon. Zojja's Claymore. It's actually not that much of a grind to be honest. Especially given how little effort it is per day if you have all the mats you need.

I might focus on getting a set of ascended armour for my Necro next since it's her I'll be taking into PoF first.

Finished Ember Bay and episode 2 of season 3 last night. That final mission was a bit bullshit as a Druid but the baby dragon looks so cute! ^_^

Completed Hearts and Mind on my second character now and without it bugging out (first character: it bugged out right at the very end, the rift wouldn't open and we were stuck there) yay :D

Also did the Dragonstand South Meta. Commander for south didn't really explain anything so I just followed them and others around lol.

It was very fun to do though, got lots of exp and plenty of loot.

The meta lanes for Dragon's Stand are pretty similar, the smaller events are different but it is just moving caravans forward until you break through to the Commander area. Make sure to do the different Ines so you can get the Mastery Points for them!

Important thing to remember when fighting the commanders near the end, is that you need to keep rotating and killing preservers otherwise the key-line shields come back up and the boss is protected.

I did a meta run there about an hour ago, I was in the south lane and we didn't have a commander for 3/4 of the event and everyone was being negative about it despite the fact we were doing fine. Someone even thought the entire meta would fail which was just silly.

Ty for the info. The one I was in was smooth. We even got the under 20 minutes achievement and seemed to be doing okay.

The commander did ask people who wanted to do the 'boss' to go to sub group 2. I wasn't sure what boss but I think it was the axe master near the end (who had appeared several times before hand) in the middle of the area while the escort people were on the outer end pushing forward.

But I was a bit confused. Regardless, I hope DS doesn't die after PoF is out. Considering that part of the map is blocked until after the Meta aka no HPs/etc until the meta is done and all.

(I did it for my Tiger/Wyvern. I wasn't going to do H&M until I got them >_> )

So the game is you more CPU centric than GPU? Im using a 1080 and have a hard time getting to 60fps with things on medium or high. Also my GPU is cool all the time while playing GW2, any way to change that?

Also my name for the guild invite is Hupsel.1920

Yeah, it's much more CPU than GPU intensive

I can run the game supersampled and max quality with little to no performance impact on a 960. It's super CPU bound. You can try overclocking, but beyond that just lower the player model limit.

It's been like that since launch. I think it's just the way the game is at this point.

Yea, the impact on performance of every other setting in the menu is dwarfed by the impact of "Character Model Limit".

I am looking forward to upgrading my CPU (again) almost purely for GW2, but it will probably have to come with a new motherboard, boo.

OC'ing a Kaby Lake i7-7700K to 5.0 GHz gave me, at best, a 15% boost in maximum FPS compared to a Skylake i5-6600K @ 4.5 GHz (e.g., 26 fps to 30 fps at the crafting stations waypoint in The Grove*). The lure of a 5 GHz overclock was too great to pass up.

However, this appears to come at a huge cost. The frametimes appear to be much worse with the Kaby Lake compared to Skylake. I never dropped to 7 FPS with the i5 Skylake. Kaby Lake is far less stable.

What's funny is that the 4.5 to 5 boost made very little difference, whereas I distinctly remember how much smoother my game ran back in 2012 when I was temporarily able to run through Lion's Arch with an Ivy Bridge i5-3570K @ 4.8 GHz for a precious few seconds before it crashed on me, compared to my baseline Ivy Bridge OC @ 4.5.

*Settings are 1440p with almost all settings maxed except for two:
1) Low SMAA instead of High SMAA
2) No Light Adaptation

Edit: maybe I should bring the "Character Model Limit" down a notch. I will not give up my Ultra Shadows, though.
Edit2: at first I thought the poor Kaby Lake frametimes were due to the infamous heat spikes associated with this CPU generation, but I delidded mine and I maxed out at 73C in Dragon's Stand. I wouldn't think 73C is enough to cause throttling.

I'm nervous about OCing my 6700k much past 4.4. I feel like it would run too hot or I'd have to worry about blaring fans all the time :(

I'm using an i5 3570k at 4.4GHz. It's okay but starting to get to that point where every new CPU has me thinking "maybe it's time to upgrade".

Yeah the boss is one of the Axemasters again, the boss group just keeps him in the middle part while the zerg takes out the preservers and ley-energy pods to keep his shield down. To be honest, as long as you have a competent group that listen it shouldn't be too much of a problem

I usually run DS once a day and a couple of times a day over the weekend if possible. You get lots of EXP for it so it is great for levelling masteries and it isn't too difficult. The first few times I ran it I just went with the Zerg and was unsure on what to do but you pick it up fast.

You should be able to pick up most of the HPs, POIs and Vistas the first couple of times through as only a couple require the later masteries.

Could I get a reinvite to the guild? Cadarn.8954

Time to shake the rust off and figure out the basics of HoT before leaving the jungle behind for the crystal desert.

Man, getting back into this game has been awesome, but really difficult. I have a level 80 sylv ele, and beat the original story, but stopped shortly after. So getting back in, I bought the living season content, as well as both expansions.

But I'm getting absolutely destroyed right now. I've unlocked the tempest spec, but only have 3 nodes so far. Trying to do the season 2 story missions solo, and I'm dying at least 5 times per fight.

So I guess what I'm asking is, what's a good build? Right now I'm using a staff, but it's just a yellow. My armor is a full exotic berserker set I purchased right before i quit. I only have 15 gold. Any tips?

story quest matches my character level and i'm in the area that its bringing me to within the same character level range as well. feel goods.

i never hit max lvl 80 (for any character) since the game launched and when the first expansion came. the highest level i got to was my thief at lvl 40. i have a bunch of other classes i haven't tried out yet.

Can't comment a whole lot specifically since I don't really play Tempest, but if you have any surplus of Laurels, Guild Commendations, Fractal Relics, and Ectos, maybe look into upgrading some trinkets to ascended. Definitely try to at least get an exotic staff. You can get one in a couple of different ways. Fastest would be to just buy off the trading post (looks like about 8 gold for berserker, less for other stats), or you could do something like two tiers in a dungeon WvW track or spend 390 dungeon tokens....it does kinda depend on what you have.

Also make sure you are using food. For instance, on my power classes I usually run "Scoop of Mintberry Swirl Ice Cream" and "Tin of Fruitcake" when doing open world/story stuff. While I run these largely for the Karma gain, the ice cream is incredibly cheap and free minor heals on critical hits. You could shop around for cheaper Nourishment but I don't know off hand what that would be.

Make sure you have appropriate sigils and runes too.

This weekend I'm going to drive to figure out the fractals and dungeon stuff. I only did 3 story dungeon tracks, and never touched fractals before I quit back when.

As Tempest, both me and my partner died a lot (both Tempests), We're just squishy :p. (though do get an Exotic staff, besides that you should be good for everything story wise)

If you need any help with the story missions though, just send me a whisper or mail in game, I can bring both me and my partner to help(We just got done duoing everything but the final HoT Mission which we did with 4 people - though we duo'd it as tempests last time XD)

Always felt the fame balance resulted in it getting more difficult as you levelled. I remember hitting Orr at launch and getting stomped when the game had been easy up until that point.

Same goes for HoT, I almost gave up because I was getting wrecked by mobs solo for a long while.

Anyone going to be around to try some Fractals this weekend? I haven't done them since they first launched and even that was fleeting so would like to try again.

I believe a Fractal group just started Wednesday. The plan is to do them starting at level 1 fractals every Wednesday and Sunday.

I'm personally planning on doing them Sunday and hoping enough people show up to get a couple of groups going.

Can you do low level fractals with exotic gear? I might jump in also.

Yes. Fractal levels 1-19 will be fine with exotic gear.

^ You only need ascended starting with 20+ due to needing Agony Resistance.

If you can, do Teq and Triple Trouble every day (first one of each at post reset is the best time usually), do them and you may get an ascended weapon or armour from them.

It's RNG but if you aren't able to craft/can't afford to craft and haven't done much fractaling, then it's a good way to get something outside of Laurels for ascended trinkets.
