Did you guys say you were figuring out builds already? Where can you see all the skills? I can try and see if I can reach the site from here for the heck of it.

http://gw2.luna-atra.fr/skills_tool/ Is a good site that has everything in a nice system, but the traits aren't up to date to the last patch. So it's kind of useless at the moment.

http://wiki.guildwars2.com/wiki/Traits From there you can look at the lists of updated traits and skills on the Wiki. Can probably get a better feel for builds and weapons skills there.

edit:beat

That's the theory, yes.

Arken and I are going to start a campaign to make the Guardian skills much more awesome.

LoL isn't that going a bit overboard? They've stressed this is a beta. You should really wait because there will be multiple changes (and even content) that we'll get to see later on.

We can't even play as Asura or Sylvari yet... that should give you some sort of idea that they still have a lot more to do with the game.

Someone uploaded a bunch of dev posts from the GW2 beta forum:

Some interesting stuff.
I've always loved reading these closed alpha/beta dev comments.

Interesting.

I don't think he is too serious. :p

As for the Racial Elites, I think they are varied some being weaker than others. It definitely seemed like the norn one was nice. I believe they aren't including them in structured PvP so that they don't have to worry about balancing them so much compared to the others skills, as they're supposed to be a more fun addition to the race.

Were these links the ones with the generator all you guys were using a ways back? I remember being able to go to that site but these links are blocked.

The first one is the same site that we were using then. Actually I think they may now have it going through another site, as before I think it was on it's own. Other than that site I think there is only GW2tools.com but it has been down since just after the first beta.

Doh, I think GW2tools is probably what I could reach before.

There may have been a day when the security of men in regards to their sylvari female voice failed, when we forsake our friends, and break all bonds of fellowship,

but that is NOT THIS DAY.

It's because the Guardian skills do not support the Guardian motif of being an active mobile supporting class at all. Stationary skills that players will run away from you when you try to use? Sounds like fun! Not!

I'd rather three elite skills supporting the motifs of guardian: defense, support, and protecting through offense.

These are the Elite Skills I think would work:

The Barrier skill is fine, it is the ultimate support skill.

Sanctuary 120CD Form a protective shelter that prevents foes and projectiles from entering, and heals allies.

Spirit Avatar 180CD Based on the weapon you are currently carrying when you activate this skill, create a massive spirit weapon.

Mace / Hammer: Giant Hammer, knockback aoe cone in front of you, ground pound, knockdown all enemies nearby your slam attack, and leap and slam, leap to an area and slam into the ground, dealing damage.

Sword / Greatsword: Giant Greatsword made of pure light, attack enemies in a 360 degree radius, able to teleport between enemies and attack them simultaneously, burning on every hit, etc

Shield: If using a shield with any other item, Shield manifests as a giant blue shield in your hands, allowing you to block any attacks while this is active, and transferring damage to your shield as healing to your allies within 40 ft. Also can perform shield bashes to interrupt and knock back enemies.

Scepter/Staff: Giant Staff that allows you to blast energy waves in all directions, channelling a large orb of light that damages enemies as it passes, can detonate at will, every ability heals allies nearby, large orb also heals allies as it passes

Phalanx 180CD Become an unstoppable defensive beast, can't be knocked down, stunned, paralyzed, conditions become boons when applied, after 5 boons have been applied, spread boons between allies, take 20% of allies damage to yourself, and heal damage when dealing damage.

EDIT: Oh god, Jennifer Hale? I'm out.

It really isn't that bad, not to mention you'll be swapping weapons to trap enemies so they wouldn't be able to run in the first place, not to mention the leap and pull abilities you have when using the Greatsword and the possibility of gaining a stun if you have the Signet of Wrath.

Is there any confirmation that Steve Blum is still doing the voice for Rytlock Brimstone? It doesn't really sound like him, but that could be do to having the voice deepened to add a "growling" effect.

Jennifer Hale as the female Sylvari excites me, as does Matthew Mercer as the male Norn.

He is. It was listed in the same image I pulled the PC voices from.

Logan Thackeray: Troy Baker
Rytlock Brimstone: Steve Blum
Eir Stegalkin: Jocelyn Blue
Caithe: Kari Wahlgren
Zojja: Felicia Day

I meant just the Elite skills bro.

Even still, the game pretty much requires constant movement, being stuck in one to use a skill leaves you vulnerable.

Awesome stuff. I bet Felicia Day is psyched to be part of an MMO.

If I play it, will she marry me?

Interesting.

Voice cast for PCs:

Sylvari Female: Jennifer Hale

Nice to see Jennifer Hale in there.

Aw hell no...
I'm probably going to piss some people off, but I'm so sick of hearing Jennifer Hale everywhere. She's great at what she does, but this is reaching Steve Blum/Cam Clarke levels of saturation. Miss Hale, please take a sabbatical?

You know what this game needs more of, though? Grey Delisle.

I am quite curious as to what joke they'll be pulling this year. The commando was implemented so well within the game.

The funny thing about the commando was that the first new class shown after it was the Engineer, which was sort of a fantasy version of the commando.

The videos were awesome to. "That... is a big chicken."

GWOnline.net has some Guardian impressions:http://guildwars.incgamers.com/blog/comments/the-guardian-first-impression
They actually respond to comments like "Weapon swapping is useless" and "Can't I just spam auto-attack?" as part of the article.
Has some videos in there too, I'm watching them now.

Edit: aaaaand nevermind, in the first 30 second she's standing in fire and walking up to enemies instead of using her leap attack. Looks like they're just demoing skills.

Human Female: April Stewart

Bahaha, Human Females are voiced by Cartman's Mom. Awesome, I hope there's a drunken barn dance in GW2.

I meant just the Elite skills bro.

My bad.

Even still, the game pretty much requires constant movement, being stuck in one to use a skill leaves you vulnerable.

Considering the things you can do when you activate the Tomes (Tome of Courage specifically where it gives you the ability to fully heal five friends, and another to daze enemies for 3 secs) I would say its a fair trade. Just my opinion.

Sylvari Female it is.

When playing PvP cature the keep, wouldn't it be better to leave the others guys on the ground if you defeat them all so they are staying there in "Fight to Survive"?

Holy shit at those comments though, they're dead on. Drives me up the wall watching all of these terrible players bumbling through the game when so many GAFers were excluded. yeah, I know, he had press access, but still... what a mook.

When playing PvP cature the keep, wouldn't it be better to leave the others guys on the ground if you defeat them all so they are staying there in "Fight to Survive"?

That's the one tiny sliver of strategy that makes the whole Fight to Survive thing worth including in PVP; the idea that you can keep these players in an inactive state by just letting them lie there and occasionally jabbing them if they're close to getting back up. I also like the idea of using a downed comrade as bait. Too bad we can't play as Velociraptors.

But those to strategies, such as they are, really don't strike me as interesting enough to keep the Downed State in PVP. Oh well, it's not perfect but I'll take it over what passes for PVP in other MMOs these days.

Stolen from /vg/, which was probably taken from that collection of forum screenshots.

This is good.

Awesome. I can't remember if we were in the Podcast or just shooting the breeze afterwords, but it did come up that there was a seriously lack of tutorials, and that those would probably be the last thing they get around to adding.

Good news all around.

This is good.

I remember that Guild Wars:Factions had a fairly nice tutorial section, where you and some NPC's were trained for combat by master Togo. They neatly explained how skills worked, grouping, death penalty, etcetera.

Might be a good idea to insert some of that in GW2.

FUCK.

I was going to pick Sylvari Female already... and was happy that there wouldn't be that many. Now everyone is going to jump on the bandwagon.

TBH I was undecided on FemSylvari or going manly Norn Engineer but it seems like a lot of people are filling out the archetypes already.

Only if it can be skipped. Fuck you Togo, I know how to kill things, stop yapping and holding me down every 10 seconds!

You should go what you like & just not worry about others. There will be LOTS of people playing this game I'm sure + there's only 5 races to choose from. When it comes to the races you can't expect to be THAT unique... which leads me to my next point.

There will be a lot of min/maxers trying to find out the best trait build etc but you know what? I've realized I enjoy the game a heck of a lot more if I spec & customize my guy to how I want. If you're going to want to be unique choosing your skills would be the best way to do it along with your characters appearance.
