Anyone else do this year's April Fools quest in GW1? You can get it from Corporal Bane at Embark Beach.

The premise is hilarious if you do both last year's and this year's.
Since you go back in time,
you also get choice quotes such as:
Prince Rurik: Tell me about my accomplishments in the future!
Prince Rurik: I'll stick with you; running off alone would be suicide!
Yourself (I'm a necro): I don't get why people don't become necromancers. I figure I'll just find three more necromancers and do everything by ourselves. (Referencing sabway.)

That last line is amazing, hahaha.

If I went into an EBGames in Canada, would I be able to pre-purchase the standard edition of the game with $60 of cash on me at this moment or will I have to wait till the 11th?

Also curious, if I pre-purchase the game in-store do I have to pay on release or when the game comes out?

Arena Net has said that any transaction before the 10th is between you and the store; Arena Net has nothing to do with it and that doesn't ensure pre-purchase perks like beta access, etc.

If you pre-purchase the game in store, you are supposed to receive access to the Beta and head start before launch, probably through an e-mail or scratch off code or something they give you when you pick it up. Once the game comes out, you have 5 days to register the serial number of your physical copy to your actual game account before... something happens. It's not clear, though I would guess they just cut your account off or something.

Edit: Might have misread your last question there, so just for clarity's sake; if you don't pay the entire cost of purchase up front, you're just pre-reserving, which does not entitle you to pre-purchase access. You pay in full on or after the 10th, or you're not getting the full benefits. At least that's how it seems to work. Read the pre-purchase faq; http://www.guildwars2.com/en/the-game/game-faq/

Jesus this game is so beautiful. That town they show at the end with the floating structure off in the distance, HNNNNNNNNG
Can't believe Jeff from the bombcast said the game didn't look good visually. Everything I've seen says the opposite. GW artists are gods... there's a reason GW:EN and even some of the earlier stuff still looks pretty great to this day.

As an Aussie i am very concerned that the lag for Aussie players will put us at a sever competitive disadvantage. I hope that there are at least a few Oceanic or Australian Servers so we don't get screwed by 300ms pings. The only company so far to have Australian based servers is EA and while they might be an evil company, i do have respect for them having servers located in Australia for WAR and SW:TOR, it greatly improves the playing experience.

I can't get over how awesome the underwater stuff looks in the yogscast videos. Underwater exploration is definitely one of the things I'm looking forward to the most.
It's kind of crazy how this game is a complete 180 from the first game. The first game's movement and exploration was insanely limited, even by traditional MMO standards, but this game encourages it so damn much.
Not saying that was necessarily a bad thing in the first game; it worked for that game, but I really can't wait for a more exploration heavy MMO as all I've known before this was GW1 really.

Underwater content in the beta that I played was pretty fucking fantastic. It felt much more natural and fluid just like the stuff I was in. Attacks seem to be much more powerful underwater, as if ArenaNet knows that it's very disorienting at first.

However, you have to learn 3 dimensional evasion because I know that later underwater content gets harder.

Signets
Being ele I want to be able to focus on the huge number of skills available to me. Signet passives are constantly providing me with small buffs in the background and when s**t hits the fan I can use them as a crutch.

Hold up. You can have multiple signets at once? I thought they only allowed one passive?

Looking forward to what you guys will talk about regarding the guild.

I thought the signets worked like Wells in that only one could be active at a time. Good news to hear the contrary, though.

So very much this.

You can have multiple wells active as well. I remember seeing that in some necro PVP video.

Some news from Twitter:

Clarification re: earlier info. Beta Weekend Events won't be under NDA. We do not have info to share about content for BWEs.B
Q: What are the chances of you hitting the 30th june placeholder date? come on, you can tell me ;)
A: Have no idea about that date. That's a guess that a retailer made. We have not announced a release date.
Q: Sidekicking in dungeons?
A: Yes. You get sidekicked down if you are higher than the rec. level. No sidekicking up tho.
Q: Will there be a spectator mode in competitive PvP?
A: There will be no observer mode at launch, but it's something we want to do.
Q: sylvari/asura playable in future beta events?
A: we want to expand content in future, but also want to avoid spoilers.
Q: Anything more about guild features?
A: will launch w/ the major features in-game now; will keep refining post-launch.
Q: Penalty for changing guilds?
A: No. We look at guilds as groups of friends. I have different groups of friends I play the game with
There are a lot of Easter eggs scattered around in the world in Tyria in Guild Wars 2, that answer questions from Guild Wars.
Earlier, Colin answered a question about unrevealed PvP maps. Teaser: one of them will be very nostalgic for #GW players. :-)

Q: sylvari/asura playable in future beta events?
A: we want to expand content in future, but also want to avoid spoilers.

Hopefully this means the answer is yes, and they're just going to keep giving us the same limited level range so we can only see the beginning of the story.

Uh, what?

Maybe the Sylvari and Asura areas have some kind of significant story elements that they don't want leaked?

I'm getting the left handed version when it comes out :D.

.... Wow, and I thought I really liked GW2. Remember to lubricate.

I was forced as a child. Now both hands are amazing.

Max, you left yourself WIDE open on this one. I'll let it be. :P

Not sure if many of you watched the latest Tales of Tyria, but they got pretty involved in conversation about use of macros and "integrity" of the player-base. They are seriously high if they don't think people that have spent hundreds of dollars on gaming keyboards and mice WON'T use macros. Sure, it's GW2, and pretty limiting (no WoW with 1000000 different skills, bars, etc), but still, people will use macros.

"Q: sylvari/asura playable in future beta events?
A: we want to expand content in future, but also want to avoid spoilers."

Uh, what?

ANet wants to keep at least some surprise for the launch, much like how Blizzard limits the Diablo 3 beta to a fraction of the content?

It's one of those cryptic answers. They mean yes, but I think they also mean something more interesting.

I look at it this way. Imagine if you had been in the GW1 beta and they dropped The Searing on you. That'd be kind of a spoiler, right? Maybe the Sylvari or Asura have some big event or disaster that affects everyone on that kinda level and they want to keep it under wraps.

Never once expected that kind of event...all of a sudden I woke up to a...whoa...

What happened to the world?
