Gunstar Super Heroes: "What a letdown?"

I don't really feel one way or another about the new Gunstar Heroes (Though I do plan on picking it up,) but I didn't like Guardian Heroes Advance at all (I've never played the original Guardian Heroes but I'm told it's way better) I would've even played it more if they didn't save your energy when it saves, so in other words if you enter a new section of the level with 1hp left, when you load it has 1hp left. and thats what happened to me, making the game unbeatable. Bad game design hall of fame material there.

If you use the power up move (A and B at the same time I think), you'll automatically regenerate life while draining magic, and going super insane fast while doing it. I died like 10 times before I figured this out =P Then I think from that point on I only died once for the rest of the game (on Normal). Easiest Treasure game =P

I bough it, I liked it.

I know that it's a sequel in name and story and that people can't help but compare it to the original, but it's still comparing a console game to a portable game. There are some differences in the game design (shorter levels, zoomed in view with larger sprites, making it a single player game, replaying sections for score, etc.) that don't make it the balls out huge Gunstar Heroes 2 extravaganza that everyone wanted, but I think it's an unfair comparison to make.

It's not the best action game I've ever made, but it's very good. It's also gorgeous and pushes the GBA more than anything else out there. I like it a lot. Maybe a little on the easy side.

You make good points. I think those points aptly summarize why I like it, but don't really love it in any deep, likely to get nostalgic sort of way. It's a good gba game.

Wow, after reading through the entire thread again, I just gotta say that a lot of people here are weaksauce gamers, particularly with regards to AGH. The original Guardian Heroes is a broken mess and how anyone could want "more of such" is beyond me. AGH did everything to "fix" the lame game that Guardian Heroes was.

Back onto topic, I would say I like GSH, but never played original Gunstar. Gunstar Super Heroes is a fun old-school run & gun to play, but it is also not that special. Perhaps I like it, and not Astro Boy, because I'm more of a fan of the run & gun style than beat 'em ups. Still, as a game, AGH trumps both. The actual gameplay itself plays like no other and especially on Super Hard will give you the challenge of a lifetime.
