紅連に燃える奴らが熱い魂ひっさげてついに銀幕デビュー

'07年、漢の熱い魂を高らかにうたい上げて絶大なる指示を得た「天元突破グレンラガン」。
だが放送終了後も、グレン団の燃えたぎる思いは消えちゃいなかった！
今回発表された劇場版プロジェクトについて、
武田康廣プロデューサーを直撃した。
「実はTV放送が始まったときから劇場版も考えていました。
これまでになく熱い作品になる手ごたえを感じていたし、
放送後も『もっと見たい！』と思わせてくれた。
『エヴァ』のように10年語り継がれる作品になると確信したんです。
でもTVシリーズの進行中に今石(洋之監&#30563に話をしたら、
『まっぴらごめんです！』と言われましたが(&#31505」

確かに、「新世紀エヴァンゲリオン」も深夜の再放送からブレイクの波が高まり、
後の劇場版へと拍車をかけた。
「グレンラガン」を現在の再放送で見ている人にも、
今回の劇場版はうれしいニュースだろう。
そこで気になるのは劇場版の内容だが…。
「まず考えているのはTVシリーズの総集編的な内容です。
といっても、本編をまとめ直して終わらせるつもりはありません。
テーマは『再燃』。
覚悟を決めた今石監督が
『グレンラガンであってグレンラガンでないものを見せる！』
と言ってすごい企画を書いてきたんですが、
これはもちろんボツです。
とは言え、皆さんの予想とは大きく違う姿をお見せできればと思います」

こうして決定した劇場版に向け、意気軒昴なスタッフたち。
なんと現在は劇場版とは別の完全新作映像を制作中だ。
参加スタッフの名前は残念ながらまだ書けないが、
錚々たる顔ぶれであることだけは言っておこう。
東京国際アニメフェア2008でその一部が上映される。
「劇場版ではファンの皆さんをいい意味で裏切りたい。
アニメフェアではさらなるニュースをお伝えできると思うので、
ぜひ見にきてください」

About the completely new project:

- "...we're aiming to make everyone who loved the TV show feel fulfilled..."
-They can't reveal the staff yet, but everyone will be impressed and really surprised after they do. Everyone is a recognized name of Gainax's history.
-We will see a trailer at the Tokyo Anime Fair.

My guesses are...

Movie:

-An Imaishi-styled retelling, complete with extreme animation and insane pacing.

-A Gurren-Lagann take that’s more focused on character relationships. A “girl’s” version, you may say.

-A very gritty, more aggressive and realistic re-visioning.

Unknown Project:

-Will be OVA format. With different episodes, each character-focused and self-contained.

Don't get me wrong, I like Gurren Lagann and all, but doesn't this feel like its a bit too soon? Sure it was a popular anime, and maybe I'm a little off, but I would've expected this to happen a few more years down the road. Either way, I'm interested in seeing how this pans out.

Also, IMO the only shows last year to get close to Gurren Lagann were Dennou Coil, Baccano! and Seirei no Moribito, and those last two are entirely my personal opinion.

I'm not sure why your anecdote is better when it consists of freely admitting your ignorance of any other anime that aired last year. Nothing wrong with liking GL, of course, and nothing wrong with not watching anything else.

－劇場版制作が決定したのは？
　実はテレビアニメの制作時から、劇場版の構想はあったんです。
これほど熱い作品をたった半年で終わらせたくない、
自分たちでももっと味わい尽したいと。
そして、テレビアニメ放映後もう一度お祭り騒ぎをぶちあげたいと思い、
制作にこぎ着けたんです。

－劇場版は複数本作られるそうですが、どのような内容になるのでしょう？
　まだ詳しくは言えませんが、１本目はシモンの少年時代、
２本目は青年時代、という安易な構成にはしません。
そして、物語をただあらすじとして流すようなこともしません。
物語を語るなら、バトルの中で語ります。
新作カットを投入しながら、テレビ版を見た時に感じた、
ほとばしるような熱さを前面に押し出した作品にするつもりです。
それと、総集編として再構成すると、セリフの前後がつながらなくなる場面も出てくるので、
セリフはすべて新たに収録し直しますよ。

－女性キャラクターの活躍はどうなるのでしょうか？
　総集編だからといって、ヨーコや三姉妹の影が薄くなってしまうのは悲しいですよね。
できるだけ彼女たちにも活躍の場を与えつつ、物語を構成していきたいと考えています。

-They're creating several new animated works, a little of which will be shown at the Anime Fair. The staff will differ for each one. Each one will be short, but have the staff's hot feelings packed in. They're still unsure when they'll be able to get these to the fans.

-Nia seems to be the main heroine of the movie. When asked about the female characters, the producer replies that it's sad that Yoko and the three sisters will probably end up in the background.

Gurren-Lagann's Robot Carnival also coming? Nice!
