Shes this japanese pop singer who sings in the style of "shima-uta" which is a okinawan folk style. Even if you dont like jpop(this doesnt really sound much like jpop) you can download this and you wont have to worry about being assaulted by overly cute tsunku groups. If you like "beautiful" music or have an interest in ethnic world music check her out!

aw come on now, it may be light and devoid of intellectual commentary but her voice is pretty good

She's one of the most unique female voices to make it into the mainstream Japanese music industry in the last decade. I'd recommend Hitoto You as well if you're interested in female vocalists with popular music that isn't pop.
