Hakuoki: Demon of the Fleeting Blossom |OT| - All's fair in love and the Shinsengumi.

I'm tempted to get the PSN version of Hakuoki, but I really want the special edition...

Yet I also want to play it right now. @_@

We're currently communicating with Sony to get the VITA PSN version ready for release as soon as possible :)
Maybe as early as the end of the month

But no concrete date for the VITA PSN version as of yet >.<

Not that this is your fault, but... this shouldn't even exist as a situation.

I'm hoping this is just Vita launch awkwardness and that by the time Gungnir and Growlanser come along it's a non-issue. If somehow it IS though, man, guess I may stick with the physical versions anyway.

Has anybody tried to download this onto their PS3 and transferred it onto their Vita yet?

Would like some confirmation if it works or not but I can't find it anywhere :(

If anyone is interested in a wordy interview with an incredibly handsome and sexually proficient editor that talks about Hakuoki and localization in general, there's one of those over at Japanator.

Also, if anyone has been having issues with their pre-orders on Amazon getting wack, Amazon has just received their shipment and should be sending out orders real soon.

Amazon has the limited edition back up now, though it says 1-4 weeks for delivery. I don't mind the wait and Amazon is usually good about being sooner than later so I ordered, though that'll teach me for waiting after I first saw this thread.

Edit: Lol, didn't read rest of the thread.

@Akselziys

Looking forward to being able to play this on my Vita.

What is this, the second or third one?

I'm pretty damn close to pulling the trigger on the PSN version. I have the SEN Spacebucks to do it, but I think I can wait a few days... I think.

Maybe I should replay Tales of Graces while I wait it out.

Still nothing locally...

I want to date Samurais. :(
Feb 23rd is reflected in the EB system and on the site, so...

I know that feel. :(

............

you sure? (looking at avatar)

I've already requested that Aksys bring the beef in the next dating VN/dating sim, but variety is the spice of life, so I'll give the Shinsengumi a whirl. (Though, why no Shinpachi?!?)

I'd be first in line for a SC dating sim though. XD

I was a little bothered that Shinpachi wasn't dateable also.

I want to make a lumberjack dating sim, but so far I'm not getting a lot of support.

I'm a little bummed that some of the attractive older men are not dateable. What's up with that?

I'm with you, patrick. I know this isn't Aksys' fault, as all they did was translate/localize the game, but I wish the folks at Idea Factory would have made it so you could get with, say, Kondou, in the end.

Still, I'm enjoying this game quite a bit. Wasn't so sure about it early on, but it's grown on me since then.

Still no sign of this in Canada.
And Amazon.ca status just went to "We have no idea if we're ever going to get this and you should probably cancel... but uh... we'll keep trying!".

Fun.

EB/GS has it listed for Feb 23. Probably got delayed here because of bilingual packaging requirements.

I shake my fist angrily at those Quebecois!
I guess I'll switch my order to EB. Feb 23 listing is way better than the no-listing at Amazon.
Amazon's listing is more than likely the same. I got my copy of Bit.TripComplete shipped from them around the same time people waiting for it from EB got it.

So... even though I did a project on this packaging law, but I'm not really sure how it works still (I had to look at it from a linguistic pov, not a legal/requirement pov). I know that in order to be sold in Québec, they need to have bilingual packaging and are either not sold or are delayed there.
Language of software

All the rules regarding labelling, commercial documentation and commercial signs also apply to software products.

As for the language of the software products themselves, there is a specific rule :

Software products, including gameware, should be offered and made readily available in French in Québec unless a French version of the product does not exist on the market anywhere.

When the software does exist in a French version, the English version can only be offered if the French version is also available under equal conditions.

When a French version does not exist anywhere, the English version can be offered as long as it is in compliance with the requirements in labelling, commercial documentation and commercial signs.
There've been several Aksys-published games that have gotten a delay, like Bit.Trip Complete and Fate/EXTRA, but neither got bilingual packaging. Neither game had French instructions either (and I'd know because I have a big box filled with French instruction booklets that I should have pitched but I decided to save for some reason).

Now I can understand a small delay if the packaging completely changes like FFIV DS and Bubble Bobble Double Shot did. But here, since the language doesn't seem to be changed--and also since I've seen US versions of games being sold in stores that are not EB--I don't really see the need for a delay other than for shipping.

On a semi-related note, Square-Enix's Canadian labels for anything are garbage. :/

There will be no bilingual packaging for Hakuoki, no Aksys game ever really has it. I figure they are coming from the US via a different distributor and that's why they are always a week late here in Canada.

Oh, it's a distribution thing? I understand that. I have quite a bit of things published by Aksys that I've received domestically (ex: I haven't imported from the States) which lack bilingual packaging, so I don't think they get delayed for that.

Finished the game a few hours ago, I started playing on Saturday's night, contrary to what I planned on at first and starting to play on release day, and finished this morning, I went for
Chikage's route, although I didn't know it was actually his route or anything till I saw it in the Record of Service, I'm still missing something since there's ???? after Chapter 5 though. A bit sad everyone in the Shinsengumi died ):.
I liked how it didn't feel like there were forced girl-falling-on-top-of-guy or girl-on-embarassing-situation-with-another-guy moments, at least in what I played of the game.
I liked the storyline too, and how it's never really clear what guy you're going for with the choices you make since there never really are choices that explicitly say "you will get a chance to romance x guy" for example, even if that made me not get Okita ;-;.
On the other hand, I didn't like how there was a lot of recycling even after years pass (like Kyoto's backgrounds, for example), and the font looked odd at times, specially certain t's and f's.
At the moment I don't really feel like playing more but I'm sure I'll try and aim for another guy at some point in the future.

Saitou path finished.

Very nice and to the point.

The endgame felt more like the resolution of one intense samurai film, rather than a romance novel. High praise from me.

Well done, IF. Stick to visual novels, please.

I got my LE from amazon yesterday, and I got an
extremely depressing
ending with Okita. I kept getting this silly grin on my face every time one of the guys did something cute, so it has my inner fujoshi approval.

It's not a particularly marketable genre, but I hope you guys are looking into localizing an otome game with some more sim elements and gameplay one day.
As long as I don't have to buy a vita, heh.

I'm looking forward to that hakuouki musou game now! Off to beat someone else's route.

I got my copy earlier an played for a few hours already!

The w~a~v~y~ way that text appears is kinda disorientings an the default sound settings make it hard to hear the voice acting lol. That Okita guy is a total creep yet I got 2 blossoms for him an none for no one else! I'm failing hard already @_@; Having fun however!

EBGames Canada finally shipped my Hakuoki LE!

I really wish I lived down in the US sometimes... Getting anything up here in a timely manner is impossible.

Yeah, it seems Hakuoki is available locally in Canada now.

My local independent store actually has copies in stock but my order from Amazon is preparing to ship so I can't cancel it now. (Why it hasn't shipped already despite them having it in stock and me pre-ordering it is a bit odd.)

It's so close, but I still have to wait. :/

Amazon Canada is terrible.

But I guess pretty much every retailer here is terrible.

I got my LE today from EBGames.ca
As usual, they insist on saving a few cents by shipping in a useless envelope. Of course, now my pretty LE box is absolutely destroyed. It's crushed worse than I've had anything else damaged in the mail before... at least the contents look okay. But... /sigh
Sometimes... this country...
