Half-Life 2 for XBOX in August

The Xbox needs MORE PC ports. I hope this trend continues in the future. This news makes me happy, because otherwise I wouldn't be able to play HL2.

Agreed. I do have a capable PC too, i just prefer playing on a console.

what i didnt get is his initial comment. i still dont get it. xbox lineup isnt strong if you have a PC, huh? what?????

I think all he is trying to say is that if you have a gaming PC half-life2 coming to the xbox is not that great. Why is that so hard t ounderstand?

I absolutely don't get the attitude where only exclusives count. The whole library counts.

Argument should have ended here.

Xbox is getting a fantastic library of games this year. I don't care if some games are on PC, some games are multiplatform and some games are exclusive... as a whole Xbox is looking pretty fucking good this year. Especially if you are an Xbox Live player.

Exactly. It's a fucking platform. You put software and services on a platform. While the individual elements may not be innovative, special, exclusive, etc., etc. ... the platform and what it offers, as a whole, is what defines it. Not everyone wants to spend on a decently capable gaming PC. Not everyone wants to put up with the hassle of dealing with all the little things that you have to deal with on a PC (installations, hardware upgrades, drivers, etc.). The whole angle of a console is that it offers competitive performance to a PC at a fraction of the price and it is simple and easy to deal with.

And if you have an exotic island with many beautiful women willing to serve your every need then games as a whole are not that great. Why is that so hard to understand?

thats easy to understand. But what the fuck does that have to do with half-life2, the xbox fall line up, or anything?

HL2 is an awsome game. Most people have been playing it for free online with mods and maps and all that for months already though.

I was just pointing out how ridiculous your comment was.

The point everyone here is trying to make, and what you don't seem to be able to or don't want to understand is that the existence of the game on other platforms has absolutely NO bearing whatsoever on the quality of the version coming out now. This holds especially true for games that exist on the PC platform since there's such a price and experience differential.

And you say "most" people, but that's a logical fallacy. First off you don't say most in regards to what, if it's people that own PCs then you're WAY WAY off, and if it's people that own Xbox's your still WAY off. The fact of the matter, is that no way you cut it MOST people are NOT playing HL2 on the PC.

...this time...

Less cowbell please :D

This I will say, there is no way in hell that the PS2 could handle running a decent port of Half-Life 2 or Doom 3. :)

Thing is, I couldn't care less about Half-Life 2.

well if don't have HL2 for your PC you most likely don't care about FPSs so why would you care if its comig to xbox?

uh.. I said most people that own gaming PC's. I just played it last night. There are plenty of people playing it.

1.7 million retail boxes have been sold. and that does not even include the steam downloads.

I don't think the XBOX version will be bad, its just not that exciting for me or the other people that have already played the game. If I didn't have a PC then yes, this would be good news.

False, I don't have a gaming PC since the Q3 and UT days, And the FPS are still my favorites games I just play them in my Xbox.

Or maybe you're just not a PC gamer? Several first person shooters have done very well on the Xbox, including Halo, Halo 2, and several others. Last month's Star Wars game for example.

like I said if you are not a PC gamer then great. The original argument was IF YOU ARE A PC GAMER then the xbox upcoming lineup is not that hot.

I'm a PC Gamer, and the Xbox upcoming lineup is good in my eyes. There are even games that would look better on my PC, like Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory, that I still prefer to play on the Xbox, mostly because of the controller and Live

The PC is not automatically greater than the Xbox. In fact, the Xbox has a lot of clear advantages. One being - no driver mess or configuration problems.

So what was the point of your comment?

People are reveling in the good news and you have to pop in and say "Not if you're a PC gamer!", of course none of us care and will only reply defensively back. And maybe that's your goal if you're an annoying twit. Or if you're like Andy and you just want to point out the benefits of another version that you prefer, there are other ways of doing it without being an annoying twit.

Why are you idiots bringing up these stupid fucking qualifications? There is such a thing as objectivity. Apart from what kind of gamer you are, the Xbox has a great lineup, period.

MS got some nice exclusives in its last year with Doom 3 and Half Life 2.

I don't see the big deal. I wouldn't buy the Xbox version since I played own the PC version. But for those without a PC that can run the game this is the next best thing.

The PC/console crossover will be bigger next gen with the Xbox 360. I actually don't see this as a bad thing. I think Xbox 360 development will lead to more PC versions of games being released. Xbox 360 will be so powerful that having console development of a game done at the same time as PC development will mean the game won't be as gimped, if at all.
