Having an opinion doesn't mean that it can't be wrong. Some things aren't a matter of opinion. There's this strange notion on message boards that opinions are holy and cannot be argued and are true to the beholder because they express feelings.

This is simply not true, some opinions are simply RETARTED.
 
I think people that compare this to Halo 2, have either:

a) Completely forgotten what Halo 2 looks like;

b) Have not played Halo 2 in ages;

c) Are over-hyping themselves;

d) Need a prescription for glasses.

Halo 3 is gonna be EPIC.
 
So far it looks very good, but not spectacular (most likely because of the quality). Currently downloading the Megaupload at 90kb/s.
 
Don't know if anybody mentioned it. But the question that was asked earlier about the back button...that's the asshole button. Mutes the players.

some people really need to go back and play Halo 2 before they continue talking. for a bad video of SD footage of a beta build of an unfinished map this looks considerably better.

I've actually been having that same problem, except mine doesn't play at all. It asks for a codec and then fails no matter what player I use. Heh. :)

The stills look unbelievable.

If you think this looks anywhere near Halo 2, you've got your facts wrong.
 
I downloaded the whole things and it's still pretty underwhelming to me. The game still has a way to go before release so I'm hoping that it gets better. The video was pretty hard to watch though with all the interlacing (or whatever the hell those lines are), so it's possible that I'm still not seeing what everyone else is.

VLC should be able to deinterlace it. (though I've still got an hour to go on my download, so I can't say for sure)

I'm in Ontario Canada, they like to test new flavours in this market for some reason. They were at the supermarket one day so we bought a bag to try them out.

They are HORRIBLE though. You aren't missing anything.
 
i'm loving the new zanzibar remake. its got me hot all over.

we need to have a halo 3 beta thread when it nears release so we can exchange gamertags D:
 
Okay, now with interlacing discarded it looks a lot better--but I still think they can get it to look much better by release. A lot of the textures jar against each other, and some are washed out. Normal mapping is really good on some surfaces, but ugly on others (or for lack of normal mapping). Like I said before, the geometry could still use more detail too, even though "simple geometry is Halo".

What I ment is that some dipshit fanboys always try to disguise they're spinning by saying it's their opinion and thus trying to avoid the reprecussions/critique of their dipshitness. Because how can you attack someone's opinion right?

Well you can.

Example:

Halo 3 > Halo 2 > Halo 1 graphics wise = fact
Halo 3 = Halo 2 HD = dipshit fanboy spin on facts
Halo 3 looks like Halo 2, same engine? This is just my opinion don't hate/ban me. = Disguise of dipshit spinning

The result of such shallow theatrics on the dipshit fanboy's behalf can only result in one thing:

Even though it looks quite nice, better than expected. I'm hoping the singleplayer has much better graphics. (GRAW2 style, amazing SP gfx, nice MP gfx)
 
Not really important, but it would be sweet if they added a tad of flicker to the HUD activation :). I went through frame by frame and didn't notice any.

I've got the vid replaying on RealPlayer right now just looking at the different things. The music is starting to catch on a little.
 
First of all, I try not to judge a game by the sceeenshots. You can't really tell until you see a game in motion. And second of all, even these shots of the beta version look better than Halo 2. A pretty big upgrade in some areas.

I really don't care who is seeing what...

The game doesn't look all that great to my 20-20 corrected vision and I'm a huge Halo fan.

Nothing I've seen yet other than maybe that 5 seconds of footage in the early teaser has gotten me excited.

Is it blow-you-away next-gen fantabulous?

Oh hell no.

You can watch that vid, even with it being as shitty as it is, and there that there isn't a big difference?
 
:lol at people judging textures from these videos. you can make out level geometry, some details, some effects, but textures? yeah, no. just NO.

You're amazing if you can really tell any of those things from that vid. SD + a pretty horrible capture = a video that's more or less worthless for anything other than the gameplay observations.

It'll take another hour for the video to download for me, goddamnit. Pictures look swell, though, and the impressions seem positive. Good stuff!
