Now I see why you got such an extreme tag - that's a pretty sad Photoshop, seeing as the "Halo Fans" understand that the map isn't finished whatsoever, and understand the concept of a Beta - not to mention that seeing as this map isn't one of the "closer to finished form" maps like the 3 maps announced for the Public Beta, this wasn't even meant for the public eye - get a brain, seriously...

It's as if you think that the people pleased with what they see are just saying that JUST because it's Halo... anyone who's actually played Halo 2 can see the huge difference between this Beta and Halo 2, while using common sense in realising that it isn't done - it's a preview of what's yet to come...

If you couldn't comprehend that, well, that's a shame...

Sure I hope Halo 3 is as astounding in graphics are the other 2 were at their respective time, but if H3 isn't all that graphically it's ok.
As long as they keep the single player awesomeness intact I'll be happy.
I love the way when I die on a section of the game, the next time the Covenant will come at you from new spawn points and attack in new ways, plus the way they throw a grenade back at me if I throw it too soon. Awesome shit, this stuff was genius to add to a game, and the games are full of these slick lil AI touches throughout.

Halo single player has such extraordinary replay value thanks to it's CPU AI, this is the beauty of Halo series, not the graphics.

And if any of those do happen.. What would drive a person to take such a risk just to leak some footage we'll all be being in a few weeks?

Also, another question that you may not be able to answer (given, if you even bother replying to me, that is): In Halo 3, is the "combo" still such a threat? A friend and I play Halo 2 every other night still for some Double Team fun, and as much as I hate using it (Trust me... I try to -never- use the combo unless forced too), I find myself having to go balls out and hunt for it right at the start due to the opposing team always gunning for it themselves.

Please tell me you plan on balancing that. I know some of you probably think its an acceptable pair, but I really find it to just cheapen the game.

I agree. I hate the combo. When the other team is using it, it becomes the only viable weapon. That is not balance, that's broken. Sure it's cool and takes a bit of practise to pull off, but I wouldn't say it takes an advanced player to do.

You know what Halo needs? A cover mechanic.

Wow... this is an insult to the expert players. Being able to take cover in Halo is harder yet is more rewarding. Play at 30+ levels in an open map and see if you can spot from where you are being shot.

Halo 1 & 2 use tons of physics. Dozens of this move when blown up in a map. The fact nothing moved is because the guy didnt even shoot at a a crate. Seriously, "watching videos" is far from playing the game. If I was to judge games only by videos then 99% of them would be boring.

Nothing wrong with having mediocre graphics, you know. Some of my favorite games had average graphics when they were released, nevermind by today's standards. So hey, if you like halo gameplay you like halo gameplay, right? And being a leak, of course, this wasn't intended for public consumption. It'll surely improve by release time, or even just the next time it's intended to be shown properly.

And what is the point of putting them in a build that will only run for 3 or so weeks (unless of course Bungie plan to run TWO betas at the same time)?

For some more testing and probably because not all the maps are as far along to put out for public beta and secondly they can't give too much content away. Still need to sell the game and have some maps be new.

As long as they keep testing out maps, the builds will have a BETA designation. Yes, there are more BETA's appart from the one the regular gamer will get. Also, the one in the video is mostly a map testing BETA, while the one the public will get has an emphasis in balancing and network code.

You will do fine here. Most of the mods who can ban your sorry ass think Halo is trash too. I heard that one of them, bigshop or something like that, bought two copies of Halo 2 and burned them at the stake.

Wha? When Halo came out it looked stunning from a technical view point. I can perhaps see one arguing over the art direction (not me, it's excellent) but some of the textures in the original game still look amazing.

Personally I'm not too hot on Halo myself, but I think that the video looks very good. Considering that it's a beta version of the multiplayer I think that the final game could look fantastic, especially on the single player side.

Ok I just actually got the time to watch the 7 min video of the game. (10 hour shifts suck)
And I have to say that absolutely nothing in that video impressed me in the least.

People that are using "Incredible" "Amazing" "OMG!!!" are just rabid fanboys with something to prove.
1st off, the video is so freakin low res that you can barely tell.
The graphics look OK to me...The outside parts are alot better than the inside parts.
I'm sure once I get it on my HDTV it'll look great but it's not looking that great/good right now.

I cant stand watching other people play halo multiplayer...it's so boring.
Which is why that video was boring to me. There are just some games that arent fun to watch, and other's are great to watch (counterstrike source).
It's more about playing halo for me...Halo's experience cant be explained or watched from the sideline....it has to be 1st hand.

The whole thing i got from this video was "cool...........I want to play".

OH, and to you people that got extra excited over the "splash and water effects"...
A big WTF goes out to you...

I'm so glad I'll only have to put up with a few whiny kids here and there when the beta comes out. In a way this thread isn't that much of a difference...hmm. Could you imagine if there were graphic whores roaming the servers? Easy kills seeing as they'd have ulterior motives to actually playing. Surely there is no greater feeling than taking out a guy who is idly querying concerns about textures, dynamic lighting, normal mapping and whatever visual perk that will automatically make the game seem more appealing to them.

Why would that be a bad thing ? Halo was and truly is one of the best games i have ever played. Being that i know your stance on anything xbox, it really puzzles why you always come in to make fun of xbox fans.
