Halo |OT3| Remember Reach?

how do we keep the waypointers out?
By putting them on the other team.

It's sad, but it's an "I'll eat my hat if it ever happens" kind of situation.
Might be a good bullet point in their fight versus CoD though.

A HaloGAF server... would be a fun "discussion" point.

Discussion of everything but Halo. HaloGAF: don't talk about Halo here.

Man, I wish there'd be servers, but it's so unlikely, like you said, "I'll eat my hat..."

I would love all the games coming out on PC a bit later, as long as they give me the option for the 360 pad.

I know PC gamers will spit at this, but I can never play FPS on PC more than around 45min before feeling motion sick - I think it's how twitchy they are. Playing any shooter on PS3/360 and I feel fine, but on PC I get nauseous :/ I can play Halo 2 PC fine, because I use the 360 controller.

I dunno why it is, it's really frustrating, because it means that I miss out on a lot of good shooters, but I don't know any fix for it, which is lame :/

Maybe it's sitting too close to the screen?

I dunno, I play games mostly on my TV, and a select few PC games on a smallish monitor. A little bit of BF3 and TF2. Mostly random indie games though with a controller.

As for Halo 4 on PC, I doubt that very much, unless Microsoft comes out with some incredible wizarding way to play Xbox games on PC - which actually has been rumoured for a while. I don't expect anything native, though.

Don't be hating Griffball!
It is fun once in a while (imho), I've probably only played 30 total games between H3+Reach.
I don't necessarily think that it should have its own playlist though.

It is apparently VERY easy for devs to port 360 games to Windows 8 but so far they are just that straight ports of the 360 counter part. If Halo 4 does come to PC it will probably be locked at 720p and 30FPS and only be sold on the Windows Store.

(Hopefully Microsoft lets Steam have Windows Store games, I mean they have Toy Soilders and that is coming to Windows 8)

EDIT: I say apparently very easy because 2 devs I asked said it only took about 1-2 of them 2 weeks to port games over to Windows 8.

Yes, sorry, that's what I was referring to. Terminology fail.

Either way I am sure 343 could easily port over Halo 3, ODST, Reach and Halo 4 and sell it on the Windows 8 store and have them be controller only and allow for cross platform paly. That is assuming the engine plays well with the Windows 8 OS.

I mean that way it is still technically Microsoft exclusive I guess.

Actually I wonder how much sales they would get from doing that even if the games where stuck in native resolution and capped at 30FPS.

Well, we have heard repeatedly that Halo is a console game. The fact that they have not ported since Halo 3 also gives an indication that it will likely never happen, add to that the troubled porting of Halo 1 (well to a lesser extent) and Halo 2.

Unrelated, today is Koninginnedag in Holland (aka Holland turns into a big fleamarket) and my pops just scored Motorstorm: Pacific Rift for 1.50 euros.

Yes I understand that much but I really dont see a reason NOT to release them on Windows 8 if the porting would be easy and just make them controller required games. I mean doesn't really matter that they are 360 exclusive games when the new system will be out soon and it would be a GREAT way to get more sales off of older games like Halo 3 and ODST.

I think the whole stigmata of 360 "exclusive" games being available on PC has really prevented the porting, since Gears of War 2 you see it happen less and less. Maby down the line they will do it though, but those games are too old now and I guess Halo 4 will stay "exclusive" for a long time.

Thats what I am trying to say though 360 exclusive doesn't really mean much when the new system is coming out soon. I understand Microsoft's choice in the past but now is the time where they should port over the older Halo games.

They have a system in place to make the porting of a majority of 360 games easy and they have a new system coming out soon. Might as wel take advantage of the fact they have that system in place and that "360 exclusives" wont be shit when the new system comes out.

NEW NEWS?

Not sure if posted:
A live action Halo web series will launch this autumn ahead of the release of Halo 4 on Xbox 360.

Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn will play exclusively on Machinima and Microsoft's Halo Waypoint in the run up to the 6th November launch of the 343 Industries-developed sci-fi shooter.

It's the largest investment Microsoft has made into live action to date, according to Variety. Larger, even, than the Neill Blomkamp shorts that almost spawned the Halo movie seven years ago.

Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn plays out over five weekly instalments, each around 15 minutes long, and tells the story of how Master Chief inspired a young UNSC cadet who will eventually become a leader aboard the UNSC Infinity Spacecraft.

This new character introduction ties in with Halo 4, and provides a flashback to the beginning of the war between the humans and the Covenant. More details are expected at Comic-Con in July.

According to Halo franchise boss Frank O'Connor, the web series is a "way for people to get onboard this universe without feeling intimidated". It's "an origins story that teaches you about a lot of different facets of the ('Halo') universe".

Apparently it's also "the next step" for the Halo franchise, and could lead to a theatrical feature, despite the high-profile collapse of the proposed Blomkamp-directed movie in 2005.

Sounds fantastic! :D

If they cut it all together, could be over an hour of Halo-based cinematic goodness. Hope it's good!

Must be what Frankie said was something Ghal, Dax would like....?

Hmmm... thinking about it, I wonder if Microsoft thinks that doing that would draw eyes away from the Xbox as a platform (not just the 360). I'm sure they'd still make more money selling the hardware than the software.

That get's me ridiculously pumped. I was worried that Halo 4 wouldn't go too crazy on the back story and lore because it would isolate and confuse more casual fans.

With things like this, though, I have a feeling that there may be a lot more "meat" this time around. And I was just wondering about when we'd see some info on the ad campaign for Halo 4 this morning. Great timing!

I wonder who the director is...

Super very excite.

Sounds brilliant.

I imagine it'll lead up to one big Deliver Hope-esque ad campaign too for TV/Cinemas and the like.

Looking at the previous live action stuff, this is probably going to be good. Blomkamp's stuff was great, Reach's was pretty good, and We Are ODST was God-tier.
