How does one block a sword attack? With a melee? That actually sounds very cool and strategical if true.

not very hard. the ghosting is very apparent and highly distracting.

i seriously hope the final game isn't shipped looking as it does now :(

You really think they left button combos in there intentionally? What?
 
Yep, server is fucked now.

Haven't been able to play for about half an hour.

My Spartan doesn't show up properly, and it's crashed my Xbox twice when I've tried to go back to the dash.

Yep, completely agree, I still can't block the sword melee either, I have tried but for some reason, even when I melee when they lunge at me, I can't block it. :/
 
just played my first game.

look like pc gaming in the last year and a half changed me.
i just can't play mp games with 30 fps anymore. :/
i'll give it another try though

You must be forgetting how the people who actually paid money to play the H3 beta via Crackdown couldn't access it for the first day or two.

I've done it a few times, most of the time by accident. The fact that you can block the sword completely destroys the shotgun-sword balance that the past Halo games pulled off fairly well. I wonder if this was intentional or not.
 
Need tips to raise my melee success rate in Halo: Reach.

I'm trying to get used to the system, but I always seem to die from melees and never seem to kill with them. I've made an effort to try and use them at different times and situations, but my K/D with the melee is still sad.

HELP! I dont want to lose this last piece of the Halo gameplay trifecta! :D

I'm not even sure how Reach's melee system works, but I'd assume it's at least as retarded as Halo 3's is. Anyone care to enlighten us on what horrible choices they've made to "hide" network latency this time around?

I've found that if you're in a close one-on-one standoff with an enemy (and both of you still have shields and are relatively close to one another), it pays just to go for the double melee rather than try and shoot/land a grenade.

Whatever it is though, I don't care if they think it makes the sword more balanced, I don't like it one bit, and should be cut for the final game. I don't even care for the sword that much either as a weapon of choice, but I thought it felt well balanced with the power level in Halo 3.
 
Any word on what the special armor will look like in the "Limited" edition of this game? I don't remember which podcast it was, but they said it was flaming armor.

I might upgrade my pre-order if this is true.
 
they better extend the beta and give me an arcade game for this shit

give me Aegis wings 2, i played aegis wings on may16 2007 with crackdown sitting next to me. time for a sequel

I paid for Crackdown and don't remember having a problem by the end of the first day. It took a long time for it to become available but I thought it was ready by the night?

Wish my game didn't end. Wasn't having a problem getting through but once my last game ended a minute ago I haven't been able to get back on.

Edit: Well, maybe I spoke to soon. Looks like it's about to work again. :D

This is a little annoying. My ODST owning friend can Matchmake with no issues, yet mine still says Playlist Data. If I join his party, neither of us can MM. Very odd. :lol
 
Look on the bright side: we'll get an extension on the Beta's run-time (hopefully). 5 days for a playlist that's supposed to stress test the netcode is too little, imo, and I want to play Invasion for as long as possible. :D

Special Elite armor in the Limited, that +flaming helmet in the Legendary.
 
Got one Arena game in just now, ended up getting a 1629 or something, and that was by going 20-3. Sheesh.

P.S. Slayer Pro is the best, stop whining :)
 
Sitting here in the lobby for half an hour, and it 'seems' to be updating every once in a while with playlist info. Oh well, that's widescale beta launch day for you.

Same here! Cannot wait for some Invasion.

I had a feeling that network issues would be an issue today.
 
I'm not gonna read the five hundred posts I missed while I was in my Spanish class and then doing my mechanical engineering hw, but :lol at you people whining at people voting for Slayer Pro in the Arena, you're missing the point of it it seems :lol

Arena mode, now! If anyone is on and wants to play some Slayer Pro in the Arena, SAE Magni =) I was a 47 first (and only) account in H3 FWIW, not saying I don't want to play with Staff Captains at all, just maybe not in Arena =)
